I like it, DH said no, too flowery for him. I gave up in the end though as we live in an area filled with Evies.

I love it too and for some reason didn't think of shortening it to Eve/Evie - preggo brain.

My DD was nearly this, but I couldn't get past the 'vange' in the middle. Sounded harsh and vaguely rude to my ears.

I do like it, but I am a fan of Kate from Lost (Evangeline Lily). Evie nice for short too.

Evangeline is perfection! My prob is that I don't much like Evie as a nn. But I know a gorgeous Evangeline known as Evan.

Can I just ask... I love this name, but wondered how others pronounce it.

I would always say "ev-ang-e-leene", but don't really like "ev-ang-el-line" (to rhyme with wine). Which is the right way?

The vange can sound hard if you pronounce it hard, soften it by making the vange soft like in (the posher version of ) garage

I know an Evangeline (adult) who pronounces it E-vange-e-lin (not -leene or -line).

Think it is lovely and cannot remember her ever being nicknamed anything, and I've known her since she was about four.

Must be the only dissenting voice (so I'd ignore me if I were you), but for some reason it reminds me too strongly of Germalene. Plus the "Evange" bit of it says "Evangelicals"/"Evangelicalism" to me which also has negative connoitations.

I've loved this name ever since I used to watch House of Elliot with my mum!! I couldn't use it for dc though as it felt too 'much' IYSWIM, I think i'd have felt odd introducing dd as Evangeline, would've probably shortened it to Evie which I also love. Although TBH the name had been forgotten by me until in labour with dc 2(dc1 is a girl) and I ended up watching endless House of Elliot as it was the only thing on tv in the early hours!! But dc2 is a boy so could'nt have used it then anyway.

Sorry for the waffle, basically I love the name but not sure I could have a dd named it
