Pippa + P surname, awesome alliteration or a bit OTT?

We like Pippa but not Phillipa so would be Pippa on BC. However our surname begins with P.

Too many p's?

am not bothered about matching initials, it sometimes sounds great!

singalongamumum · 06/02/2010 09:19

Love it, go for it.

As long as your surname isn't Pepper, I think it's cool. We have a double P dd .

Aubergines · 06/02/2010 09:21

I love illiterative names. Go for it.

Fleecy · 06/02/2010 10:19

Ooh I like very much

scarletlilybug · 06/02/2010 10:33

I beg to differ... sorry.

Imagining a surname beginning with "P" - say Parsons - Pippa Parsons. Makes me think of p-p-p-pick up a penguin. Phillipa doesn't sound too bad though. (Should admit here, though, that I am no fan of alliterative names. JMO ).

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/02/2010 10:33

I think that Pippa is one of those great names that works alliteratively.

ToccataAndFudge · 06/02/2010 10:34

gosh you know I have to confess the first thing I thought when I saw the thread title was

"pepper pig" (I know it's Pippa you've said not Pepper)

GoldenSnitch · 06/02/2010 10:37

I went off the name Pippa when I found out it meant wank in Italian I think it was

My name was illiterative until I got married and it never really bothered me (until I got a brace and slurred my S's for a while!!). I agree with scarletilybug though that the P's sound a bit like a biscuit advert...

Wolfblass · 06/02/2010 10:40

I think it will be fine.

If we have another boy it will be a W W

Think William Wallace, William Wordsworth along those sort of lines.

Some people love it, some people hate it.

Oh and my surname isn't Wolfblass as my talk nn may suggest?

Plonker · 06/02/2010 10:41

I'm usually a fan of alliteration, but I think Pippa P.... is a little too close to Peppa Pig for my liking.

Wolfblass · 06/02/2010 10:42

Oh and just to add - a friend of mine's surname (well her OH's) is Parsely and she liked Pippa and Penny but thought they sounded like cartoon characters

so aslong as it's not something like

Pippa Parsley or Pippa Peanut, it will be lovely i am sure x

CheeryCherry · 06/02/2010 10:46

Love Pippa, Love alliteration!

gherkinwithapurplemerkin · 06/02/2010 10:48

Philippa Press (e.g.) sounds fine (know you don't like Philippa though)

Pamela Press would also be fine.

Pippa Press is too much like Peppa Pig/ Peter Piper picks a peck of ipckled peppers. It's not the initial P sounds, its the compounding of this with interior P sounds as well.

Jenbot · 06/02/2010 20:19

I thought Peppa Pig too.

Ineedsomesleep · 06/02/2010 20:22

Yes. Don't use it.

LaRagazzaInglese · 07/02/2010 00:56

Love it, Go for it

MumGoneCrazy · 07/02/2010 03:50

skidoodle · 07/02/2010 07:39
