Hi there - could I have your opinions please.......

Hubby likes Ronnie and Ted, and I prefer Jasper or Ralph. (he really doesn't like Ralph but I do so may be able to work on him!) With Jasper do you think people would tend to shorten to Jas?

Thanks!! xx

I like Ronnie (going to be DS2's middle name) and Jasper. Would be calling DS2 Jasper if it weren't for the fact that a friend's just called her baby that, and DS1's best friend is called Jasper too so it'd just be too confusing.

Ted reminds me of the old guy in the Fast Show, and I can never take the name Ralph seriously - read Judy Blume's 'Forever' at an impressionable age and the guy in it called his (ahem) old feller 'Ralph'. For me, it's a willy's name and always will be! Sorry!

Hee hee forgotten all about Ralph in the Judy Bloom books! Puts a different perspective on the name!!
Hubby really likes Ronnie and I definately prefer Ronnie to Ted.
Only thing that puts me off Ronnie - is it a it of a 'lad about town' name

I love(!) the name Jasper - and the nickname Jazz.

In fact it's the only name me and dh have agreed that we like and unfortunately both agree it really doesn't go with our surname!!

I do like Ronnie - it's not common (although who cares really, if you love it, you love it) and it's a lasting name that I can imagine a baby, child, teen, man...

xx

Ted, I like it.

Jasper, trendy but I like it. Marginally prefer Caspar though.

Ronnie - not sure. slang for a half-hearted mousstache in dublin, you know the kind that hoodie teenagers sport? that really puts me off tbh.

I love the name Donald and Don or Donnie would get my vote.

Ralph,,, em that means vomit or penis to too many people. I mean, I didn't used to know that, but I would go for Raphael with Raph for short. rafa if you think you can pull it off!

Glad it's not just me with the penis association for Ralph!!

We've gone for Ronnie as a middle name for DS2 because DH's late father was Ron - I can't bear the thought of calling a child of mine 'Ronald' so couldn't have that. As I'm partial to a bit of snooker-watching, particularly Ronnie O'Sullivan, we decided on Ronnie as a compromise. Mr O'Sullivan's a bit of a lad, but a genius too - not a bad namesake in my book. Plus there's Ronnie Barker, (not a Corbett fan)... er... OK floundering now... nobody mention the Krays OK?

I'd still go for Jasper though, if I could.
