I absolutely love the name Finn but dh says it's silly and not a real name.He like's Chester(which I hate).Does anyone know of any Finn's?Do you like the name or do you think I'm 'trying too hard'?Honest opinions please!!!xx

Finlays are everywhere.

Finns less so.

Finn definitely seems classier than Finlay.

Love Patrick.

High "popularity explosion" risk due to Glee

BackToBasics · 28/02/2010 14:39

My ds is called Finley and everyone who has asked what his name is have loved it. Can be annoying though when people keep spelling it Finlay though because i pronounce that Fin - lay rather than Fin - ley.

RachieB · 01/03/2010 21:32

The only Finn I know is 6 and it's short for Finnian

no Finns at my sons school or in our friend group

I like Fin(lay)

Flightattendant · 01/03/2010 21:35

It's OK but always reminds me of that song, 'your baby has gon down the plughole
your baby has gorn down the plug

the poor little fing was so skinny and finn..' etc etc

VoluptuaGoodshag · 01/03/2010 21:39

My Finn is as dark haired as they come but still suits the name even though it means fair haired.

sassysass · 01/03/2010 22:21

Finn is a brilliant name. My best friend has a Finlay but is Finn too. I don't know of many others. I've heard it out and about a few times but not often.

chipmonkey · 01/03/2010 22:46

Love Finn, it was my Dad's name, short for Finnain ( pronounced Finn-awn) Lots round here too but I am in Ireland!
Chester is a city, fgs!

LittlePushka · 01/03/2010 22:51

Loveit!!! It's a magnificent name!

ChynaDoll2006 · 02/03/2010 09:19

I like Chester.

Don't call him Finn, find something different.

HarrogateMum · 02/03/2010 09:24

I have a Finlay, shortened to Fin. It was definitely not that popular 5.5 years ago when I chose it but agree there are more around now. He is the only one in his year and infact dont know of any others in his school. I thought it went well with his bright red hair and Scottish skin!

Skegness · 02/03/2010 09:27

Not particularly keen on Finn or Chester. Though I did used to have a goldfish called Chester, who had fins....

Bathsheba · 02/03/2010 09:49

Definately NOT Chester.

Where I live there are a lot of Finn/Finlay/Findlay-s....both male and female. I'd avoid it for that reason.

henry37 · 02/03/2010 10:13

like it but know three born this year already if that matters to you.

number2please · 02/03/2010 18:28

personally i do not like it. like alot of other people there is alot around and i think people are using it to sounds modern......i like proper boys names that are manly like william, oliver, harry, etc.

i also personally think finn is a bit of a camp name...sorry just my opinion.

Wilts · 02/03/2010 20:46

Ds2 is Finley/Fin, he is the only one his class and possibly the only one in his school as well.
