Delphine?

I'm not pg but we are trying later this year. But to keep my broodiness in check I am looking at baby names.

I really like Daphne but it is out of the question as we have a Freddie.

But I have just come across Delphine and I love it.

What does everyone else think?

Our niece is Delphina, which is sweet and she is known as phina, or phinie.

o no delphine donkey again is my only thought

no, no previous life. I've been here for 3 years with that name, but not very consistently.

Hello!
Not even sure if this'll get read but - My daughter is called Delphine and we call her Delphy for short. Lots have people have said how lovely it is but a couple of French friends have told me it is an old ladies name over there!

OtterInaSkoda · 22/04/2010 14:50

I've always liked the name Delphine. The only one I know IRL is about 35 (and French, petite, and very pretty).

cumbria81 · 22/04/2010 14:54

It's a bit middle aged, imho.

5DollarShake · 22/04/2010 15:00

It is head and shoulders above Daphne, IMO. But that is because I will forever picture Daphne as a man dressed as a woman in Some Like it Hot.

Lovely name

Lovely name if you have a french connection, but I personally wouldn't use it if you haven't.

seaturtle · 22/04/2010 19:23

I loved this name before I shared my life with a Peppa Pig fan. Now I automatically think Delphine Donkey.

CakeandRoses · 22/04/2010 22:45

Fabulous name. I knew a (French) Delphine yonks ago who was a lovely girl.

debaronz · 23/04/2010 09:57

Sorry but I don't really like it. Prefer Daphne.

debaronz · 23/04/2010 09:57

(sorry, just re-read OP and you can't use Daphne)

Delfin (pronounced Del-phine) is a dolphin in German.

Not a very feminine association there .
