I think it is a love it or hate it name... if you love it go for it.

Hmm yeah I dislike Genevieve but do like Guinevere

I like it - it is getting popular though if that bothers you, I've met 2 under 3 recently!

orienteerer · 05/02/2010 18:31

I know a 7 year old Arthur

NinthWave · 05/02/2010 18:33

I love it - unfortunately, after DS was born I decided I was never having another one, and got a cat called Arthur instead.

Now I'm pregnant again and beginning to rue my decision

I have an Arthur.

We chose it because of a family connection, but also because it's a name that everyone knows, everyone can spell it, it's not completely out there. But at the same time it's not that popular at the moment, so it's not like he's one of 7 in the nursery or anything (like Felix!).

I never thought I'd have a child called Arthur but I'm so glad I do

boodleboot · 06/02/2010 16:40

thanks betty - does he like his name?

He's 2.6yo so not really at the stage where he can say one way or the other! But I think he does

boodleboot · 06/02/2010 18:49

ah ok...ha. My son used to come running when we called our cat at that age so i know what you mean.....

i still call him gizmo sometimes....

I LOVE Arthur!

its got lots of fab associations, King Arthur for a start, then my grandpa, my dad, my nephew all with the grand name of Arthur, and it's such a strong, solid no messing name.
Go for it!

and MaggieTaSeFuar you are SO wrong, Victor, Howard and Donald are much much worse! In my opinion any way!

I know someone who was actually disowned by her mum for calling her baby victor! I think it's a strange name choice, but disownment, surely thats taking the whole naming bisness far too seriously.

What ever the baby is called we all grow to love them even if at first it seems strange.

Arthur is a great name. Strong and traditional. I find it hard to imagine an Arthur not being quite a cool boy (and I went to abirthday party for an Arthur today!)I really would go for it!

Although, lovely as he is, I can't imagine Arthur Smith often gets babies named after him!

His alter ego is Daphne Fairfax--- for a girl perhaps?
