It has a nice sound. Not really my cup of tea. I don't know why, but I don't think it will make a come-back soon. Paloma mor e likely.

Momdeguerre · 31/01/2010 19:11

Not keen, and dislike it abbreviated to Pam. Feels too 80's for me. For some reason I would assume it went with names like Barbara, Roger and Nigel.

Perhaps use it as a middle name?

passionberry · 31/01/2010 19:16

Can't imagine it as a name for a little girl - don't like Pam for short either. Maybe Pammy could be quite sweet?

It would be a very original choice though!

BooHooo · 31/01/2010 19:17

Oh no, Pammy is Ok but Pamela/ Pam yuk sorry!

piscesmoon · 31/01/2010 19:19

I expect it will come back eventually (if people can like Ethel, Edna and Ruby nothing surprises me!)-however it does go with Barbara, Roger, Nigel, Linda, Brenda, Patricia, Lesley etc and will perhaps take another 10-20 yrs.

I do like Pamela a lot, I also like Pam and Pammy. Pam cakes. LOl Yes it does sound sweet for a little girl and a sensible classy name for a lady.

Fleecy · 31/01/2010 20:15

It makes me think of Pamela Doove from the League of Gentlemen. Sorry!

bellissima · 31/01/2010 20:50

I like it! To me it's 1950s. Pamela, Belinda et al. Please not Paloma - isn't that Spanish for pigeon? chavvy whatever it is.

JoeyBettany · 01/02/2010 07:25

Dove not pigeon.

Chavvy ????

MaggieTaSeFuar · 01/02/2010 08:52

i think it will come back. I like Belinda! I also prefer Paloma though.

I think bellissima is right, paloma is spanish for dove and pigeon. I don't know if that puts you off. It's also (kind of) spanish for pop corn. (Palomitas de maiz is popcorn). It is 20 years since I lived in spain though so I stand to be corrected.

zozzle · 01/02/2010 14:10

I don't mind it too much actually - Pammy is nice. Kim is another of same generation that I really like.

Stuff fashion. I chose a name that some would say was v 70s for my DD which goes against the Isabelle/Olivia yummy mummy fashion round here (nothing against those names just not my cup of tea).

yellowflowers · 01/02/2010 14:14

I know a pamela in her 20s. She is lovely and it really made me like the name.

monetinjanuary · 01/02/2010 14:15

It's horrible! It would be in the same category as Tracey imo.
