What are the opinions on Simon?

Don't love it, don't hate it,

(my first 'proper' boyfriend was called Simon, and it therefore has a nice connotation for me)

Never met a Simon I didn't like. There are quite a lot in their 30s/40s but I don't think it's even in the top 100 anymore. Time for a revival!

Know an absolutely lovely guy called Simon (He is a carer for dp and dd)

I really like Simon,there are no Simons now under 30 seemingly,so he would be the only one in his class without having to have a freaky deaky name,and all the Simons I have met have been lovely,weird that,but true!

DSs middle name is Simon. I agree with the others, never met a Simon I didn't like. They all had this quiet coolness about them.

I met one at a group the other day, there is also a Jason. I'm sorry to say that I found it a bit 'unusual'. Nothing wrong with it of course, I just a consider it a name of my generation. (born 1975).

It's a name that has grown on me while ttc and as he (if I have a he) gets older can be shortened to Si or Simo. I mentioned it to my sister when a few months ago and she turned her nose up at it. I think it is cute. Definatley a contender! I really shouldnt be counting my chickens but I cant help it!!!

Not keen, agree with previous post, more a name of my peers, (1971). Not yet old enough for a revival I reckon!

Classic biblical name - will always sound ok and disagree with pipsqueak - i think it is due a revival so get in there first!

I know a Simon who is DS1's age (9 yrs) and thought, when I first met him, that it was a name that was rather underused and really shouldn't be. I used to work with a Simon too - in his 40's now, lovely chap.

It also has the added advantage of not being mega popular name.

Simons I know tend to be very nice, but I've always thought of it as a bit wet. Pleasant enough, not nerdy, but never the coolest guy either - in my own experience!

Sorry, it has that "wet" feel to me too - like lots of names with i as the first consonant :
