What do you think of these and which do you prefer?

Prefer James.

DiamondHead · 26/01/2010 12:56

George

Ziggurat · 26/01/2010 13:29

George

amazonianwoman · 26/01/2010 13:35

Like both but prefer George (tis one of DS's middle names )

mumoftoomany · 26/01/2010 13:38

Don't really like either, but if I had to choose one, I'd say George.

Lilyloo · 26/01/2010 13:39

I love George would have had it for a name for dc but nephew called it.

Pineapplechunks · 26/01/2010 13:40

I think either are lovely. It would depend on your surname which one I would plump for.

MrsJohnDeere · 26/01/2010 13:55

George. I wanted it for one of my dcs but dh vetoed it.

LuciaRose · 26/01/2010 14:08

It seems like George is more popular. Please could you tell me why you say this - and what the connotations of both names are?

Which one do you hear more at the moment?

Well, 2 James in DD's class. And I know 2 Georges.

Also have a fab Uncle George, so biased. Just a nice well-rounded good old traditional name. Makes me think that they will be nice boys/men but not in a wet way!

I prefer George too. Not keen on James but probably mainly a bad association with the name. Both popular atm.

AnathemaDevice · 26/01/2010 20:33

I prefer James, because I think it has more nickname potential (Jim, JImmy, Jamie, Jay, etc.) and boys, once they get to teenage years, seem incapable of calling each other by their given names.

snurgy · 26/01/2010 20:48

George by far. George has an edge to it. James is so round and dull.

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 26/01/2010 20:49

prefer James, mainly because there are 3 Georges in DS2s year group and 2 in DS1's year group but no James

Stinkyfeet · 26/01/2010 20:50

James by far - can't stand George! And know waaaay more little Georges than Jameses.

icarriedawatermelon2 · 26/01/2010 20:50

George is lovely

Pingpong · 26/01/2010 20:52

much prefer James to George. Lots of nn potential for James. Georgie - cute for a LO but not for an older child or man. George is DH's middle name and he hates it!

Georgimama · 26/01/2010 20:57

George.

Bleatblurt · 26/01/2010 21:00

James.

liliputlady · 26/01/2010 21:57

I have no preference, would happily use either of them! See what baby looks like - you can't go wrong with either of these.

ByTheSea · 26/01/2010 22:01

I much prefer James. DD2 would have probably been James.

gladders · 27/01/2010 10:59

george. dd would have been george.

WorzselMummage · 27/01/2010 11:04

George, all the best little boys are called George

James is lovely too though.

LuciaRose · 28/01/2010 10:50

Seems an even split on the mumsnet boards! I have always liked both and would really struggle to settle on one or the other. Trouble is, you can't really use the other one for a future brother, as I don't think they sound so good together as brothers - James and George?
