Found out we are having another boy, need a name that goes with Milo (ds1) but have gone off anything like Oscar, Theo, Max, Ben etc. although they are lovely names!

At the moment we like:

Sebastian
Remy

Think i prefer Sebastian but basically really like french influenced without sounding too French because we are not!!

We have a Luc as husband is half French and the French spelling pleased my mother in law.

castille · 27/01/2010 17:27

Dwayne - all the names on your list are rather passé in France, apart from Pierre and Thibaut perhaps

Yves is a bad choice for a boy in an English environment given that it is pronounced Eve...

thirtysomething · 27/01/2010 17:36

My absolute faves are Pierre, Antoine and Emmanuel. Also adore Laurent, Jacques and Loic.

The easiest to get away with in England would be Pierre and Louis or of course Sebastian. Xavier seems to go down ok too depending on where you live? Also think Stefan is manageable as pronunciation obvious....

funnily enough have two french friends who like English names and have gone for William for their DSs - apparently is very up and coming in France...

JaMmRocks · 27/01/2010 17:36

Vincent?

shesawhore · 27/01/2010 20:11

my ds' middle name is Matis

Sunshinemummy · 27/01/2010 20:39

I love Remy and would have used it for DD if she had been DS2. Also like Etienne and Serge but DH doesn't.

Cobblers · 27/01/2010 20:43

How about Xavier?

minimoonumbertwo · 28/01/2010 13:30

oh how funny thirtysomething - it is a top name!

I love Sebastian (I have one, born shortly before we moved to France and named accordingly). Dd was born while we were living there - I was gobsmacked at an antenatal class when the other mothers all announced that they were going to name their babies Cameron, Connor, etc. Definitely Anglo names were seen as being quite cutting edge.

I also noticed absolutely loads of young Kevins, aged 12+ - apparently it was a big Costner-inspired craze. But I imagine Kevin doesn't really fit your bill

mathanxiety · 28/01/2010 15:11

I know a French-Cuban Kevin who is 16.

shoobidoo · 28/01/2010 15:13

Isn't Kevin quite popular in Italy too?

i know, Estile (like Pete D's son)

Skegness · 29/01/2010 13:12

Remy is lovely. Boys names are so much nicer in French! Etienne is 1 million times fabber than Stephen as a name, frinstance. And Patrice sounds so exotic compared to Patrick. Thierry beats Terry hands down. I could go on but would bore you all to tears...

cece · 29/01/2010 13:16

I've always loved Didier

mathanxiety · 29/01/2010 17:32

Didier reminds me of Ken Dodd and the Diddymen
