We have decided on
Seth James for a boy
or
Amelia Peyton for a girl - Although we will use the nickname Millie more often than Amelia.

Our son is Hayden John, do you think these names will work?

I think Hayden and Amelia go fine together.
To me Hayden and Seth sound a little strange though - very different to my ears!

BabyGooch · 20/01/2010 22:57

I don't mind the names sounding different when spoken aloud, I just don't want the difference to be in the kind of name, for example having a Jack and then a Chardonnay

I think both go fine together

LetThereBeRock · 20/01/2010 23:36

They're fine together.

mathanxiety · 21/01/2010 05:10

Yes, they go really well together imo.

diddl · 21/01/2010 08:00

Hayden & Amelia yes, Hayden & Seth, not so much imo.

QandA · 21/01/2010 08:28

Agree with diddi.

tummytickler · 21/01/2010 18:17

Sorry - I was not very clear - i think they are a very different style of name!

skidoodle · 21/01/2010 18:22

I think Jack and Chardonnay go together.

Either name sounds OK with Hayden, I think.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 21/01/2010 18:24

I think they are similar enough sorts of names (and I like Seth a lot)

Pingpong · 21/01/2010 18:27

I think Hayden and Seth are very different sounding not quite on the Jack and Chardonnay scale but not far off!
Infact not keen on Seth at all. James however is lovely and would be fine with Hayden.
Amelia and Hayden go fine together.

mathanxiety · 21/01/2010 18:58

They're all quite American, especially the mn Peyton. Seth comes across to me as a quintessentially American biblical name, like Jared, and Hayden, being a surname, is also American in style. Amelia with Millie as a nn also quite American -- thinking Thoroughly Modern Millie..

MummyKimberley · 22/01/2010 02:11

Well Amelia is german, Seth is a biblical name (one of the son's of adam), Hayden is old english.
Peyton, James and John are very common english middle names too.

All three main names are very popular here in the UK, i've no idea how popular they are in the US but being popular there doesn't make them American

Thanks for your input guys

Mummyto3plusbump · 22/01/2010 10:28

Yes I think they sound lovely together. x

MrsBadger · 22/01/2010 10:32

oh and Peyton is not a common English middle (ie given) name, it's a common English surname derived from a place name.

mathanxiety · 22/01/2010 15:54

They are popular in the US, Amelia especially. Peyton is mostly used for girls, but some boys too including this one. Seth is a popular Jewish American name (Green, Rogen, Meyers, Rudetsky) now moving into white bread and mayonnaise territory; Hayden is a little along the Jayden, Brayden, Aiden lines, very popular in the US, and also a surname used as a first name, very much a US style.

Heated · 22/01/2010 15:57

Both fine.

MummyKimberley · 22/01/2010 19:23

Mathanxiety, oh don't get me started on the 'ayden' trend lol.

My son is four years old and I chose his name very early on in the pregnancy from an old baby names book from the library. Had never even heard of a Kayden or Brayden and now quite understandably everyone attaches it to those names

mathanxiety · 22/01/2010 21:06

Hayden is actually a nice version of the 'ayden' names, imo. I think the others are a bit apart from Aidan, but there are worse names. Hayden is after all a real surname (I knew a family with this name in Ireland).

BarbieLovesKen · 22/01/2010 21:28

I think they go lovely together - each combination. Really nice names imo.

Im confused - did you namechange OP?

MummyKimberley · 22/01/2010 22:24

Sorry yes I did Barbie
