I really dislike Maragaret I'm afraid! And surely Daisy Margaret is daft as it's like Harry Henry or Libby Elizabeth!

I think Rosa she will be. Rosanna is lovely, will put that one to DP!

Rosa definitely, Daisy is cute but v popular, Rosa is pretty and timeless. Plus Rosa works for a little girl and a grown up woman.

I always think could I imagine a lawyer/doctor/teacher etc with that name?! It rules out a lot of the rather twee little girl names around at the moment!

hf128219 · 15/01/2010 12:07

what about her though

IsThatTheTime · 15/01/2010 12:14

Love the name Rosa but doesn't go with my surname for a number of reasons so couldn't use it.
I agree on the twee thing about Daisy but that is my personal opinion and I would never ever tell you that if name was presented as a fait accompli, iyswim.

IsThatTheTime · 15/01/2010 12:15

SqueezyB I have a number of similar "tests" I can't say for fear of outing myself, I know what you mean though!

Daisy is a cows name

I love Rose and think it is mightily underused as a first name (whilst being mightily overused as a middle name) but don't like Rosa. (go figure) (similarly adore Eve and loathe Eva)

Jojay · 15/01/2010 12:40

Rosa

Mongolia · 15/01/2010 12:42

Funny that Rosa is perceived as classy in this country when is such a common one in Spanish speaking countries from which it comes.

The pronunciations sounds like Rossa in French which is "red haired", or like Rossa in Catalan which means... blondie.

I would stick to Rose or any other flower, unless you are absolutely certain that your DD will keep herself away of France and Spain.

Ellenmummy · 15/01/2010 12:45

I think Rosa is the next big thing, I know three born in the last 6 months - I think one is short for Rosalyn.
I like it better than Daisy still.

CirrhosisByTheSea · 15/01/2010 12:47

I don't like Rosa at all!

Daisy, I just love. I do know that people say it's no name for a grown woman but I really don't see why not...it has really grown on me over the years. I think it's just beautiful.

HowManyTimesDS · 15/01/2010 12:48

Rose rather than Rosa. And much as like Daisy for a cute little girl with curly dark hair I think for an adult woman it's a bit problematic.

Merrylegs · 15/01/2010 12:58

Funny, I always think of Daisy as a very feisty name. Kind of go-getting and adventurous and quite sturdy. She is the 'brick' in girls school literature isn't she? The one who always saves the day?

Pingpong · 15/01/2010 13:10

merrylegs I couldn't disagree more. I always think Daisy (and Maisie for that matter) as really wet names not in the least bit feisty!
pandavark I agree Daisy is a cow's name and Maisie is a cat's name!
Rosa is lovely, so is Rosanna or Rosalind.

Mammina · 15/01/2010 13:10

rosa wins hands down for me

mrswill · 15/01/2010 13:21

Rosa, classy, and very pretty. Far prettier than Daisy, which is also a nice name, but doesnt compare to Rosa.
