Will do.

GarryandtheWashingMachine · 07/01/2010 18:42

Garry is a name with a great heritage and it is a shame that it now has such sleazy connotations.

Few people know that Garry comes from the Anglo Saxon for 'Daring Intelligent Cyber King'.

Sometimes I love mumsnet so much it hurts.

MaggieMnaSneachta · 07/01/2010 18:51

I don't like Harry. But it is strange how everybody loves Harry and dislikes Barry and Garry. imo, Finbar (barry) and Gareth (Garry) are at least refreshingly different. Harry is a bit um right so.

MaggieMnaSneachta · 07/01/2010 18:53

what is this thread really about??????

BecauseImGarry · 07/01/2010 18:56

Look for a thread about career women ...

GarryandtheWashingMachine · 07/01/2010 18:56

See here

MaggieMnaSneachta · 07/01/2010 19:01

wow, shocking. i know they claim they only want to show how powerful an ad on the side of a bus can be, but why not 'all men are potential rapists'???

GarryandtheWashingMachine · 07/01/2010 19:08

I like the cut of your jib, Maggie. There may well be an opening for you at the new Mumsnet advertising agency.

caramelwaffle · 07/01/2010 19:11

Only Fools... and Horses - that's what I think of "Garry"

Garry, for example......

Grin
hazeygarry · 07/01/2010 19:15

If dc3 is a girl Garry will definitely be on the list, I think it is a good strong name for a woman.

Washersaurus · 07/01/2010 19:23

Seriously, DS1 wants to call DC3 'Garry' regardless of sex

TheBossofMe · 07/01/2010 19:27

MaggieMnaSneachta - I'd employ you for certain (oh, except I can't because good people in the industry are losing jobs left, right and centre whilst nameless idiots are still raking it in...)

Noooooo

Bumperlicious · 07/01/2010 19:48

I think it sounds like the name of a big whinging baby

LadyGarryPalliser · 07/01/2010 19:50

It's a top name. And unisex too, which will be most useful for him in the modern gender-blind workplace.

SnowWorm · 07/01/2010 19:50

I checked on a baby name site and 'Garry' means 'spear'.

I checked on a thesaurus site, and a synonym of 'spear' is 'prick'.

Swedington · 07/01/2010 19:57

LadyGarryPalliser - Marvellous. So he could become a career woman later on in life, if he got fed up with being a bloke?

Oh Lenin, I hope she will have very low expectations, and really not push herself very hard at all really.

ROFL Snowworm . Does the thesaurus make reference to the size of the prick? Small?
