No to all, esp. Dylan 0-3

In fact Elissa is nice and Martha is OK.

opalfruity · 18/12/2009 21:10

Well the automated thingy didn't work very well there! I'm not actually shortlisting Dylan 4 times for a girl's name - my girl shorlist actually looks like this:

Aoife
Elissa
Martha
Orla
Pippa
Rosa
Rosemary

I'd be very grateful for any suggestions on middle names for any of these! All boys in the family have the middle name Hartley so that's one thing I don't have to tax my brain over.

i like rowan or possibly elliot for boy

but i only like martha for a girl,

sorry.

pookabelle · 18/12/2009 21:12

Rowan for a boy or Martha for a girl

opalfruity · 18/12/2009 21:13

Don't be sorry - that's why I want opinions. It's all very well having names in your head but sometimes they might not translate that well in reality.

LaDiDaDi · 18/12/2009 21:16

Hartley just makes me think of jam.

Elliott
Noah
Alasdair
Elijah
Rowan
Dylan
Hartley

would be my order of preference for boys,k with quite a drop off after Elijah.

I really like Orla best of your girl names and don't like Rosemary. The rest are all in the middle iyswim.

Wattinger · 18/12/2009 21:20

Elijah or Orla for me!

opalfruity · 18/12/2009 21:20

Yeah, it's not my immediate preference either LaDiDaDi but tradition is tradition (!) and I've already relented and said to the OH that he can have the family middle name as I'm choosing the first name.

Rowan, Elliot or Alasdair for a boy

Martha for a girl

opalfruity · 18/12/2009 22:02

Any ideas for girls' middle names?

DiamondHead · 19/12/2009 08:46

Rosemary

mathanxiety · 20/12/2009 05:36

Aoife, Orla, Alasdair and Rowan.

Rachiesparrow · 21/12/2009 16:01

Love Noah and Rosa.

meggymegmegs · 21/12/2009 16:38

For the boys I like Noah, but my midwife sister reckons it's becoming very very popular at the moment. I also like Elliott which is my husband's name , and Elijah.

I think Rosemary is lovely, also like Elissa, Martha and Aoife although some people may struggle to pronounce/spell it and as the lucky recipient of such a name myself I'd express caution.

Tortington · 21/12/2009 16:40

ELI

noah is quite popular now i think

non of the girls - are you on drugs woman?

jellybeans · 21/12/2009 17:19

I only like these

Dylan
Noah

Elissa

Hulababy · 22/12/2009 09:23

Girls - Love Martha

Boys - from list prefer Noah

GetOrfMoiLand · 22/12/2009 09:27

Alasdair and Rowan are lovelt names for boys. Not hugely keen on the rest of them.

Of the girls Martha or Rosa.

dizzycringles · 22/12/2009 09:35

nothing wrong with Dylan for a girl

love Marth and Noah

hippopo · 22/12/2009 10:46

Love the name Martha. A friend of mine has a little one called Martha though so dont feel can use myself. I also really like Mabel and Rosie.

For boys names really like Dylan (that could be my welsh connection)

HerbalHolly · 22/12/2009 11:09

I think these are great names.

In order of preference:

Rowan
Noah
Hartley
Elijah
Elliott
Alasdair

Dylan - I only know dogs called Dylan but it is still a nice name.

Girls not in order of preference:
Aoife - Am I right in thinking this is pronounced Eefah? This is pretty but (and my name is one that has to be said a few times before people get the hang of it) I think it's nice to have a name that's easy to tell to others.
Elissa - Very nice.
Martha - A bit old for me. Makes me think of a widow all dressed in black.
Orla - For some reason think makes me think of Orca as in the type of whale.
Pippa - If your child ends up wanting to be taken seriously (ie as a high judge or barrister etc) I think this name might be too cute - perhaps Phillipa, or Felicity and then Pippa for sort..? That way she could have a serious sounding professional name to fall back on if she wanted to.
Rosa - Very nice. I believe it's quite popular at the moment, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Rosemary - Great name. Solid and yet also pretty.
