Naming our second is proving hard with myself and DH changing our minds every day/not agreeing!
I have one dd named Phoebe and quite like the name Sylvie for our next pink bundle due in 1 week. Does it sound to similar? Also like Ava (I know popular but we like it),Matilda, Elizabeth, Esme & Holly.
Opinions gratefully received please!

I like it. It's not too similar to Phoebe imo. I also like Elizabeth - there aren't many little Lizzies about yet it's timeless. The other names are lovely but they're two a penny where I am.

I adore the name Sylvie - we knew a wonderful French Syvlie who was beautiful and a wonderful dancer. Very distinctive and classy is my opinion.

I also love Elizabeth. It has always been a huge favourite of mine and I don't know a single child of that name.

I think it's a really lovely name but it does sound quite samey. Not as bad as someone I know though who has an Amelie and a Lily. I vote for Elizabeth too. Lovely as it is and has some good abbreviation possiblities too.

I know a Sylvie and a Sylvia and I love both names. I do think Sylvie might be a wee bit same-sounding to Phoebe though. Would you consider Sylvia? I like all your other choices too.

oh this is funny, my dc1 was almost a phoebe! and then my dc2 was going to be a Sylvie but he was a boy!
go for it!

Sylvie though. Sylvia is chain-smoking bingo caller. Sylvie is chic and a refreshing alternative to Sophie.

i have to say i love the name as its mine lol always commented on and adored by all and someone even named there baby after me as they thought it was such a nice name and didnt realise it could suit younger people lol

Love Sylvie and Esme. Think we have similar choice in names! Though I can't stand Ava. Too boring/common and merges in with the interminable Eve/Evies etc. Ava to me is an old showgirl who smokes 50 a day.

I love Sylvie -- not too similar to Phoebe at all, imo. Love your other names too. There are a lot of Avas though. Would you consider Cynthia?

I think Sylvie is a great name though I would be inclined to use it as a nickname and give Sylvia as the registered name (just for more options and I'm old fashioned that way).
Don't see why you have to be French - what about "Who is Sylvia", couldn't be more traditional.
I liked it as a possible for DD just because it works in several European languages, but DH didn't sadly.
Elizabeth is a fab name IMO and will never date or become associated with one person - but I do know a LOT of little girls with Elizabeth/Eleanor/El... type names.

Sylvie is a beautiful name, miles nicer than your other choices. It's very chic but still classic.

I think Sylvie and Phoebe are fine together. They're a bit rhymey but I think you can get away with it.

I also love Elizabeth, because it has so many variants (Betty, Beth, Elle, Betsy, Lizzie)

I am currently suggesting Lydia to anyone who will listen

Sylvie is sweet, there are a couple of babies (3) I know who are called Sylvie. Suspect it may get quite popular?

Siblings of the Sylvies I know are Thea and Rosie, in case that helps.

I'd look for something with a different sound, so Sylvia rather than Sylvie. But then my two are both now known as their "ie/y" versions, and it's not the end of the world. I'd still pick the slightly more formal version for the BC. My dd was almost a Sylvia - it was my MIL's name (she died before we got married) and when dd was born we spent a good few days thinking she didn't suit the name we had picked, so tried some alternatives, amongst which was Sylvia. I like Elizabeth best of your choices though.

Holly if she is born so near Christmas?
Elizabeth as second name?

Sylvie Elizabeth?

I don´t think they are too much the same& if you love it, go for it!

Forgot to say, one of my fave names is Hebe.
Now that would be too "samey" with Phoebe!

So in that context,Sylvie is nothing like!
