Rose when you already have a Fred?

Really love this as a first name - classic and beautiful IMO but suddenly had the thought this morning that when combined with DS's name - Fred, it isn't great.

Have a think if you haven't already twigged why.

Am I being over cautious? Would people associate it?

Everytime we think we have the girls name cracked it goes wrong again.

Alice will be the middle name btw.

No no no!

Fred and Rose? No!

differentID · 11/12/2009 21:38

Alice Rose.

wasabipeanut · 11/12/2009 21:41

Ok, that's a yes to "will people associate it?" then.

not really recommended i reckon

SolidGoldpiginablanket · 11/12/2009 21:43

Is your surname East, South or North? If so, I really, really wouldn't.
Why not something nice like Ian and Myra instead?

wasabipeanut · 11/12/2009 21:46

Ok ok I get the message.

West

TheCrackFox · 11/12/2009 21:49

No, no, no.

Paolosgirl · 11/12/2009 21:50

Just snorted into my cup of tea here! Fred and Rose is really not a good combination

My son's friend's mother is called Myra - I always wondered why anyone would call their child after a child killer. She's in her late forties, which means she was born not too long after the murders.

Sorry - I'm havering.

nighbynight · 11/12/2009 22:36

I have friend who has a Sam and Ella. Think thats worse. Its a non-forgettable issue...

Amapoleon · 11/12/2009 22:42

You could do Bonnie and Clyde

LetThereBeRock · 11/12/2009 23:12

A definite no. Yes most people would think of Fred and Rose West.

LaurieFairyonthetreeeatscake · 11/12/2009 23:14

I have no idea what Sam and Ella mean unless you mean salmonella if that don't think its too bad really...

but definitely wouldn't go for fred and rose.

inveteratenamechanger · 11/12/2009 23:21

Sorry, no. They are nice names though. Just not together.

MamaLazarou · 12/12/2009 13:47

Fred and Rose - a vehement NO!!!

doubleexpresso · 12/12/2009 17:59

Could try Rosie or Rosalie ??? But still a bit too West-ish. Sorry. Alice is lovely.

MaggieNollaig · 12/12/2009 18:13

no. on its own rose doesn't make me think of her, and on it's own fred doesn't make me think of fred west... but together? no way

darcymum · 12/12/2009 18:24

I wouldn't, but as they grow up would their friend and the people they know get the connection? Maybe not.

cece · 12/12/2009 18:28

NO! abosolutely not unless you want people talking about you for years to come! everytime they mention your dc's names.

Slambang · 12/12/2009 18:31

Rosie would be OK at a pinch though
