I think I must have misheard a mum call her son Amnesty. What could it have been? Surely not Amnesty?!

It sounded like Amnesty but couldn't possibly have been but I can't think of another name that might sound similar.

Any ideas?

What did the mum look like?

MavisEnderby · 05/12/2009 22:42

No idea.

I do know children called Innocence,Temperance,Lovelace and Beloved though. So it is not unfeasible.

nevergoogledragonbutter · 05/12/2009 22:43

She looked normal. Nothing to place her amongst a mum stereotype.

It was in McDonalds.

Don't y'all judge me now?!

LynetteScavo · 05/12/2009 22:51

Hmmmm.... I was imagining her stocking up on mumng beans wearing home made tie-dyed clothes.

nevergoogledragonbutter · 05/12/2009 22:53

It's been bothering me since yesterday.

Maybe it was a request for him to hand over his weapons?

Or could it be along the lines of Precious, and Justice?

is there a name that sounds like Annesti? googling various spellings of it aren't throwing up much but I just have a vague recollection of the existence of such a name.

ButterySprouts · 05/12/2009 23:06

Ah cum on now Ste....

StealthPolarBear · 05/12/2009 23:10

I think it's more likely to be Amnesty than Steve these days
A woman in Sainsbury's asked "What do you call him?" about DD. When I replied "Alice", she said "Alex", so I said "Alice" again.
"Funny name for a boy"

Are you sure she wasn't saying "Honestly.....!" in a kind of despairing way?

BikeRunSki · 05/12/2009 23:28

LOL at Stealth!

I have had:
Old Lady: What's her name?
Me: Samuel
Old Lady: Lovely. How old is she?

Xavielli · 06/12/2009 11:06

Anssi
Ernesti - both scandinavian names which could sound a little similar!

Antony

mumoftoomany · 06/12/2009 11:50

It may have been a foreign name - without knowing the family (heritage), it's hard to say.

Who cares, frankly, anyway?

nettlemummy · 06/12/2009 16:01

Maybe it was Anstey or Annesty? I know an Anstey but she is a lady

MarioChristmas · 06/12/2009 16:07

I know a 'Justice' which I think is fab.

cece · 06/12/2009 16:23
