Spelling choices of.....

My DH and i are admittedly only just TTC but have chosen our names already, i have put a thread on about these names before and am very aware that not many people are very found of my boys choice, but am going with it anyway as it obviously wont become overly popular LOL. I would just like some advice on different spellings, iam very aware that this shouldnt matter but;
Kaden
Kaeden
Kayden, im a little weary that this version seems abit girly
Which one looks better in your opinions.

My girls name is Freya BTW

Hello, I think a lot of people will tell you they hate that name. Try to ignore them and just post 'thanks for your opinion' or something.

Personally I would go with Kaden as I think it seems simpler and is still phonetic. Looks nice. Good luck!

(WE love our boys name - Sky/Skyler- and don't care that everybody goes when we tell them. )

PoppyIsApain · 13/11/2009 20:41

Thank you adair, i checked it out with MIL and my mum saying it was a friends choice and they both liked it, neither are polite for the sake of it
I dont care anymore if people like it or not so dont mind their opinions

my friends have a 'caden' I have never seen it spelt with a K before but would probably go for kaden.

I also know a skyler!

purepurple · 14/11/2009 09:06

I know a Kaedan.
I love Freya btw.
I would probably choose Kaden, as uses the same vowels as Freya.

Adair · 14/11/2009 09:13

ah, a boy Skyler or a girl Skyler? Seems to be growing in popularity for girls. My poor ds...

Good for you - and easier once you have parents onside... You don't seem to have had the MN onslaught anyway...

morethanyoubargainfor · 14/11/2009 09:15

a boy skyler! One up for your ds

Adair · 14/11/2009 09:30

Yeah! That has made me ridiculously happy

Am deluded convinced it's gonna be the new Finley one day !

morethanyoubargainfor · 14/11/2009 09:35

happy to help!

LittleMissWorryHead · 14/11/2009 09:48

Adair Skyler is FAB!!!
Op - I would definitely spell it Kaden

PeterHoxton · 14/11/2009 10:54

Kydn none of those tricky vowels to contend with

PoppyIsApain · 14/11/2009 13:26

Thanks everyone I will go with Kaden.

I have seen a Caiden, quite like that, abit softer than with a K. Nice name though whatever the spelling.

PoppyIsApain · 15/11/2009 23:44

Def consider Caiden thanks

OP posts:
Adair · 16/11/2009 19:14

Ooh Caiden is nice.
(And thanks LittleMiss)

PoppyIsApain · 16/11/2009 19:19

Hi Adair, we are worried now about people's difference in pronunciation, i see kaden/caiden/cayden as kay-den, hope im saying it right

OP posts:
Adair · 16/11/2009 19:23

Kayden/Kaden/Caiden would all be Kay-den to me, yup.

Kaeden would technically be Kee-den (if you assume the ae is like in encyclopaedia).

PoppyIsApain · 16/11/2009 19:25

Thanks Adair, silly things on my mind Caiden it def is then, thanks for your help

I like names that have a bit of variety when written down, so stalks, tails and dots...also not keen on the letter e in the middle of a name. Don't know why.

Personally I'd choose Kaydn or Caydn.

It is quite popular though. I've come across several Kadens, and Jaydens, Aidans, Kalens etc.

Adair · 16/11/2009 20:10

Ooh now, I'd think Kaydn was Kai-dn (to rhyme with Haydn)...

mommymeggie · 17/11/2009 00:47

My lil girl's name is Freya....love that name!

I like the spelling of Kayden....Kaden, people may pronounce it as ka like the ford ka car lol.

BunnyLebowski · 17/11/2009 00:59

Caiden? Friggin hell. I can see my opinion will be lost on here but fwiw.

It's a horrible americanised name that will render your child chavvy in years to come. It sounds made up and worthy of a character on One Tree Hill.

If you like the sound of the name then why not Aidan which is an actual proper boys and man's name?

I love Freya by the way so not attacking unnecessarily. Just suggesting you give your (potential) son a name that is equally as lovely.

jabberwocky · 17/11/2009 01:12

I like Kaeden. I guess b/c the spelling reminds my of Braeden which I also like.

nooka · 17/11/2009 05:50

I know a Caden. I think a "c" start is much better. Somehow "K's for slightly unusual boys names are much more associated with made-up/misspelled names in my mind.
