Annalise - any good?

We're thinking of Annalise Jamie for our DD due 11/12.

What are your thoughts? Love it / hate it?? Would love your opinions...

Spelling has been a bone of contention - there's Annalise, Analise, Annalies...

I love it. I would use any spelling with 2 Ns.

Hi Beeny Annalise was on my list too.I think it's pretty but when I asked people what they thought they always say it reminds them of the 'airhead' Annalise from Neighbours!!!Hate it when you like a name and someone connects it with someone like that!But I think Annalise Jamie is lovely!Very girly!And even if she turns out to be a tomboy then you can nickname her AJ!

A friend is an Annalisa and she is a tall, beautiful, incredibly confident and talented person. Go for it!

Annalise is a beautiful name, but I'd avoid the spelling Analise, I suspect it'd probably provoke a lot of teasing by mean kids at school!

I think its lovely, its my friends name, IMO I prefer her spelling of Anneliese.

I think of the bimbo in Neighbours and then I think that Jamie is a boy's name.

So....admittedly I am an oul doll so you can probably get away without the Ramsey St jokes but please rethink the Jamie part.

And AJ is horribly Melrose Place/One Tree Hill/The Hills.

I was unsure about Jamie but it's hubby family tradition (whether male or female) so can't get out of that one.

I also considered the neighbours thing but figured that when she gets to school the kids her age wont know about that character
anyway - it'll just be the parents and i'm ok with that!!

I just wanted something pretty but unlikely to make every child turn around when you yell it across a playground!! I'm called Sabrina and find that it's quite useful having an unusual name...

Anyway - thanks again. DD1 is starting to use it now as we were road testing it on her so don't think we have a choice anyway.

Annaliese is lovely I think

Prefer the Dutch 'Annalies' (Anna-lees) to the Scandinavian Anna-lee-zeh. I just think it's more delicate. But I can see the obvious problem in English - 'Anna (tells) lies!'.

In terms of pronunciation, a soft Anna-leeze as opposed to a hard Anna-lease

Jamie is overwhelmingly a girls' name in the US. Jaime is a Hispanic boys' name there. I knew a boy named Jamie growing up in Ireland (back in the Jurassic Era), and he got teased about having a girl's name

I know an Annalease, who is normally known as Anna so you might find your chosen name is often shortened, Pretty name - and I love Jamie for a girl too.

You do realise children will call her Anal Lice?

Annalise is a perfectly valid spelling. I prefer that spelling to the ones with lots of es in it.

Likely to be shortened to Anna, esp once at school.

A friend of mine's DD is called this and AFAIK has never had other strange or unpleasant nn or teasing, as someone has suggested on here.

DH's cousin is Annalisa and she is pretty much always called by her full name, rather than Anna.

My best friend at school was Annelise, pronounced Annalisa (think it is possibly German version?). V pretty and Anna is a nice nickname too.

I like it, but spell it Anneliese.

ps haven't watched neigbours for a long long time, but i think every name has been on neighbours at some point. They always have 20 year olds called names that are only just becoming popular for babies.

This is my middle name but its spelt Aneliese.
