My ds name is Archie, if dc2 is a boy, is Alfie too close to Archie?

Hi again
My ds is called Archie, trying for dc2 and thinking if it is a boy we would like to call Alfie, would it sound silly having such similar names or would it not matter

Yes. It would sound silly and everyone would be forever calling them by the wrong name.

yama · 23/10/2009 18:56

Too close for me but I wouldn't think anything of it if I met brothers Archie and Alfie.

allaboutme · 23/10/2009 18:56

A bit weird but not outrageously so

sophiesmummie · 23/10/2009 18:57

Yes, Alfie and Archie are definately too similar!

thumbscrewwitch · 23/10/2009 18:57

if you like it, don't worry.

Although I must admit I discounted Felix as a second DS name (if I ever have one) on the grounds that it's too similar to DS's name.

LyraSilvertongue · 23/10/2009 18:58

Much too similar.

SCARYspicemonster · 23/10/2009 18:58

Yes I think so. You (and everyone else) will forever be getting their names mixed up

overmydeadbody · 23/10/2009 18:59

By Archie do you mean Archibald and by Alfie do you mean Alfred?

Or would you just use the shortened versions on their birth certificates too?

PoppyIsApain · 23/10/2009 19:00

Ok thanks for your very quick responses, ill scratch that one out for def

too similar, yes

Jas · 23/10/2009 19:01

Yes. My friend has two ds' with very similar names and no-one gets them right. They both end up with a combined version.

MaggieBruja · 23/10/2009 19:01

I wouldn't. Bit too behind the bar at the vic.

I love ARchie. What about Victor or Donald or HOwie?
