Pronounced 'Rosheen'.

I love the look of the name but not sure if I like the pronounciation and whether I'd be condemning my future dd to a lifetime of explaining how it's pronounced?

Thoughts from the MN brigade?

I love it
But best if have an Irish connection
I don't think its so uncommon that people wouldn't know how to spell it

I think it's pretty crucial to like the pronunciation of your own child's name. I think it looks and sounds lovely though.

makes me think of Roison from River City (scottish soap) i like Aisling better pronounced Ashleen

BiteOfFun · 22/10/2009 19:29

It is rather lovely I think. It suits my flame-haired dd2 to a tee!

I do keep having to say "Like Raisin but an O instead of an A" though

We tend to call her Rosie for short.

LetThereBeRock · 22/10/2009 19:34

It's a lovely name.

WUGYouLETMeBiteYourNeck · 22/10/2009 19:37

I would spell it Róisín and pronounce it Roh-sheen.
But nice

Beautiful

shoobidoo · 22/10/2009 21:39

I think it's beautiful! And not that common, which is great.

Rosebud05 · 22/10/2009 21:55

My friend's dd is Roisin - she calls her Roshie. It's a beautiful name.

LouMacca · 22/10/2009 22:14

Think its lovely. Love the way the name looks iynwim. DH cousins daughter has this name and is known as Ro which I think is simple but lovely.

mathanxiety · 23/10/2009 02:36

It has two fadas, pronounced like WUGY said. The stress is on the first syllable, ROW-sheen.

choosyfloosy · 23/10/2009 02:43

I absolutely love it, but if you don't like the pronunciation, that's a bit major?

skihorse · 23/10/2009 13:35

I knew a girl with this name - with her "English" pals she shortened it to "Rosh".
