Scottish baby name??

Our baby is due in January, not sure if it's a boy or girl and we are struggling to agree on any name...

we have a very scottish surname and DH will only consider a scottish firstname, I don't really see why but I'll go with it for now...

Also, some of the names I like DH thinks are 'Public school' types!! Can't win!

Some names I like [scottish and non-scottish] are:

Finlay
Isaac
Seth
Hamish - maybe
Fraser - not sure

Maisie
Grace
Isobel
Eve

Any other suggestions??
Please help!

Hi - this thread is a little old. If you’re looking for a Scottish baby name, find the most popular here. MNHQ

Jacks

I went to school with a Hamish Hamilton - he did get called Hammy but didn't get teased. I suppose to us it just sounded normal!

I am an exiled scot married to the son of exiled scots and we gave our chldren scottishy names. DD2 is Katrina as I was worried that people down here would call her Catreeona if we spelt it Catriona. We needn't have worried because loads of people actually write her name Catriona so we could have had that spelling after all. I have a very unusual gaelic name (has been mentioned here) and got sick of having to explain it to everyone I meet. (It is a good conversation starter though!) So that made me wary of having ultra unusual names for our DCs.

'Awrabest' for the birth - not long to go now

Bit of trivia for you, did you know that the name Lorna was made up by the author of Lorna Doone and isn't actually an old Scottish name at all?*

Still a pretty name though and I only know nice ones.

*Well, 1869 is pretty old actually.

My (Scottish) Grandfather's name was Grey (may have been spelled Gray, I'm not sure); not a very common one, but traditional I think.
