What do you think?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
TurkeyLurkey · 03/10/2009 09:55

Sorry, reminds me of a dogs name

or a dinosaur.

AngryAndFedUp · 03/10/2009 09:56

I know what you mean!

It's a family name so I'd like to use it but I'm not sure I like it enough. DH isn't keen.

I had a dog called Rex.

TurkeyLurkey · 03/10/2009 09:59

How about as a middle name? Be great in those "I've got a strange middle name" conversations you have.

TurkeyLurkey · 03/10/2009 09:59

Exactly purepurple

zookeeper · 03/10/2009 10:00

dog's name. Sorry

paddingtonbear1 · 03/10/2009 10:01

Rex was one of my fave books as a child - but it was about a dog. I wouldn't use it as a first name.

RnB · 03/10/2009 10:12

My ds2 is called Rex. It really suits him, and in my opinion is a nice, strong, unique name

Thissideofchannel · 03/10/2009 10:42

But people have dogs called all sorts of names, including Oscar, Rex, Katie or whatever....

It wouldn't stop me from naming a child if I liked the name.

doubleexpresso · 03/10/2009 10:54

The temptation for others to cal him 'Sexy Rexy' will be overwhelming...

I know one. Tis a cool name.

BulletProofMum · 07/10/2009 16:57

Make me think of butch Americans - NO!

thighsmadeofcheddar · 07/10/2009 16:58

There is a funny Austrian show about a dog called Rex. It's very odd, not mainstream at all.

jamandjerusalem · 07/10/2009 17:42

I love it. Brilliant.

Rex Harrison?

I overhead two old men in the post office, one called the other 'Sexy Rexy' and Rex looked wistful and said "Those were the days..."

Brilliant.

Salonly · 07/10/2009 17:51

Too doggy. I prefer Max or Felix.

womma · 09/10/2009 13:50

Woof woof!

Bathsheba · 09/10/2009 15:17

There is a builder in my Dh's home town called Rex. He was always called Sexy Rexy, even though he wasn't.

I don't know if thats a selling point...

MaggieBehave · 09/10/2009 15:34

I quite like it. I like Bruce and Bruno and Gus too which no doubt somebody will say woof woof.

If Barnaby gets the mumsnet approval then I don't see the difference tbh.

Felix is lovely but it's at least as cat as Rex is dog.

My name can be a dog's name. Well I suppose any name can be. But once a friend's mum said "are you hungry maggie?" I said "oh, er, a little peckish thank you mrs patterson". I was talking to the dog she said.

BooBooChicken · 09/10/2009 15:47

i love it!

(but it IS a dog's name )

hatwoman · 09/10/2009 15:51

I know one - we were all a bit suprised at first - but I love it now.

200yearoldhorsehair · 12/10/2009 20:34

Oh I love this, but feel I have a girl a-brewing, so won't get to use it.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 17/10/2009 14:57

I LOVE REX, we have one in our family

Nancy66 · 17/10/2009 16:03

I do like it but, alas, I do think it's more of a dog than human name.

cloelia · 21/10/2009 23:06

I have a nephew Rex, he was named for a favourite great uncle. He loves the name himself but just in case, his full name (which is never used) is Richard. I think Rex was once a diminutive for Richard.
