I like Tanner for a boy, what do you think?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PuppyMonkey · 08/09/2009 16:20

Odd.

Littlefish · 08/09/2009 16:20

It's a profession, not a name.

kidcreoleandthecoconuts · 08/09/2009 16:20

Erm..no sorry don't like it.

hocuspontas · 08/09/2009 16:21

I like Bob better, or Florin

blametheparents · 08/09/2009 16:22

Not a good choice, imo

crumpet · 08/09/2009 16:22

No

maggiemoon · 08/09/2009 16:25

No. And i like unusual names.

pania · 08/09/2009 16:26

No

LaurieFairyCake · 08/09/2009 16:26

No, it's ludicrous

unless you have 'chosen' his profession already and then you would need professional help

FritesMenthe · 08/09/2009 16:27

Isn't barbie's pooch called tanner? The one that poos?

RubyBlueberry · 08/09/2009 16:28

Nope - name of a pub where I live.

seeker · 08/09/2009 16:30

Why?

Ondine · 08/09/2009 16:33

No, images of heaps of animal skins and the smell of brine spring to mind.

It's an occupation, not very nice for a name at all.

MamaVegas · 08/09/2009 16:38

Elsie.

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 08/09/2009 16:41

It's a surname. I do not like surnames as first names.

bellissima · 08/09/2009 18:03

Like Tyler - it's a surname or a name for a dog.

twirlymum · 08/09/2009 18:12

Elsie just springs to mind. Sorry.

ugly, chavvy

Tamlin · 08/09/2009 22:56

Curing animal skins with urine extracts? No. Read somewhere that tanners were rather shunned in the Middle Ages as they were always so whiffy - if you're going to go for an occupation surname, Mason or Carter probably has fewer unpleasant connotations.

nooka · 09/09/2009 05:29

I know a Tanner, but where I live surnames (and particularly occupation ones for some reasons) are very popular as first names. I think it is a little odd.
