Thyra?

Have just recently heard of this name and really like it, thinking of it as a definite possibility!

Would like to know what you think? It's not pronouced with a hard 't'. So Thyra not Tyra.

Having just written a 3-page letter about DD2's hypothyroidism can I add to the deafening shriek of "THYROID"!!

It's an old royal name, Princess Thyra of Denmark... but I digress, I will think of some more names!

I knew a Thyra once but she was German, so the pronounciation was Türa. And she was of a 'noble' family, the von suchandsuchs often give their children odd names.. I like it.

Tia quite popular up here, 2 in DD1's new class, the Maria thing would put me off too though

Interesting you say that Thusnelda, the setting in which I heard the name was quite high society. Not my usual scene I hasten to add but did think the name was truly unusual but still quite classical.

Though i'm getting the message almost everybody seems to think of a Thyroid which is not good.

Don't like it, sorry - sounds like Thyroid and Myra like somebody else said (not the most glamourous of associations! )

If you like Thyra how about Myrtle? Similar vein but just as different.

Myrtle is nice although I think a little bit too staid? Though on the herb front Sorrel is on the list.
