what do you think of Jenny, is it too old fashioned?

I actually quite like Jennifer

StrumpersPlunkett · 28/08/2009 12:41

does Jennifer sound too grown up for a baby?

I hate Jennifer.
Prefer just Jenny.

V popular in late 70s and 80s. But still pretty, and usable I would say

StrumpersPlunkett · 28/08/2009 12:52

ooh hate is a strong word..

will maybe think again, hadn't anticipated it having a reaction that strong.

Woot was waiting for this name to come up.

I personally think Jennifers great!

I was Jennifer/Jenni/Jenny/JenLou/ (amalgamation of first name and middle name) til I was 13 when I wanted to be Jen.

Jojay · 28/08/2009 12:53

Both are pretty, classic names. Go for it.

nowwearefour · 28/08/2009 12:54

i have a friend with a Jennifer (well Jenny in practice) who is 16 months old. I think it is lovely and perfectly usable.

ScummyMummy · 28/08/2009 12:54

I like it.

StrumpersPlunkett · 28/08/2009 13:09

hmm thanks, I think I will try it out for a while and see if it sounds right

I only hate Jennifer for personal reasons.
Don't let it put you off

Jenny is much nicer and is a bona fide name on it's own though.

piscesmoon · 28/08/2009 13:26

Timeless-you always get a few.

wheniwishuponastar · 28/08/2009 14:39

i like it (prefer jenny)

pasturesnew · 28/08/2009 14:43

I like it, Jennie is the Scottish abbreviation I think, and I have loved this ever since reading A Portrait of Jennie which I would recommend to any fans of Time Traveller's Wife.

I think it might come from Guinevere originally.

boodleboot · 28/08/2009 15:52

I really like Genny short for Genevieve not Jennifer

GreensleevesFlouncedLikeAKnob · 28/08/2009 15:53

I like Jennet

was very common English name a few hundred years ago

I love it - very pretty and not a weak name... but what do I know - I let DH choose DS3's name and the little chap is called Elvis.... My turn to choose next with DD/DS4 and if my mum wasn't called Jenny I would love to choose it. No doubt DH would rather Dolly or something

piscesmoon · 28/08/2009 16:57

Jennifer is the Cornish form of Guinevere-if you look on 1881 census you find that most of them are born in Cornwall or the West Country-although the spelling varies.

jamandjerusalem · 28/08/2009 18:06

duckduck, I'm loving your DH's style!

Not that keen on Jenny myself... but it's not awful

FritesMenthe · 28/08/2009 18:09

I am biased as it's DD's middle name, after her lovely godmother. Definately due a revival IMO.

MaggieLeo · 28/08/2009 21:17

I know of two under 5, which strikes me as odd, as it's not an obvious choice.

I sort of quite like it. But I think I know too many roughly my own age to consider it for a child.

Heated · 28/08/2009 21:19

I love Jennifer and Jenny, think it is a little used and fabulous name.

SoWhat · 28/08/2009 21:23

Love Jennifer. My Mum's name and DD's middle name.

squeaver · 28/08/2009 21:24

Oh I like it.

PestoSurfMonster · 28/08/2009 21:25

again, dull
