Any ideas how to pronounce it please? thanks

i know i think it's awful too. if they wanted to call him AJ, i think they should have given him proper names (Andrew James etc)and used that as a nick name, so at least he would have a choice when he's older.

Ajay's a popular Indian name, it means victorious. I like it. Never come across it spelt with an i though.

Was just about to say what barleycorn has already said! The Indian name is pn more like Ah- jay though, not A-jay.
I am guessing the people you know aren't Indian.

I'd guess the Ai part is so it will be pronounced with a long A (rhyming with Jay) sound instead of a short one like the A in ajar. Reminds me a little of Ajax pronounced like that though. Popular in the US, a bit like KC, KD...
