Rather surprisingly, I love it. I think it dates better than Louise, which is quite of the 70s imo (I can say that cos I am a Louise and err, of the 70s!)

I really like it. The pope had just died when I was pregnant with dc2, and Luisa Baldini was reporting from the vatican. As it turned out, baby was a boy, and I gave him the name of a former pope. So there you go. I'm very impressionable.

dizzydixies · 12/08/2009 23:16

lovely

Cherrylips... just bear in mind it is a huge pain and really annoying when people can't spell it, or they call you Louise

screamingabdab · 13/08/2009 17:57

Very nice name.

I also like Christina

missmapp · 13/08/2009 18:10

I like both Louise or Louisa. I think it depends on your surname which name goes best. If your surname is very long I would pick Louise, but if you have a short surname then Louisa might be better. It means warrior and prehaps its good to think of our daughters being fighters in this tough world.

Its a name that is going a bit out of fashion at the moment so I don't think you will get six Louise/ Louisas in the class. There is only two girls I know called Louise/ Louisa although I know quite a few adults with that name.

cherrylips · 17/08/2009 12:06

Her middle name will be Katharine.

Oooh good choice, Katherine Louisa would go too (although I much prefer the spelling Catherine )
Anyway Louisa is timeless and classy.
Also love Eloise.

Hi my DD who is 2 is called Louisa Isabel, I loved the name and have only every come across 2 other Louisa's and they were both grown up. It's nice having a name which is a bit different and I have never had her name mispelt by anyone. Her name get's shortened to Lou, Lou Lou, Louis but she answers to them all! My other daughter is called Katie and there are so many of them about, especially at School, wish I had thought about it more at the time. At least Louisa will be one of a kind at school, well she is actually one of them already!!
Good choice of name ))

violethill · 21/08/2009 14:03

Sounds so much more classy than Louise -what a difference a letter can make!

I also think Louisa is one of those names which works at all ages - baby, child, teen and adult, which goes greatly in its favour. So many people seem to go for twee names these days which sound alright until the age of about 6 months and then sound a bit silly.

Babywhiting · 21/08/2009 14:04

its a great name ......its my name!!! always told how beautiful my name is!! good choice.

MamaLazarou · 21/08/2009 18:23

JeanLouiseFinch · 24/08/2009 00:39

Great name prefer spelling Luisa

serenity · 24/08/2009 00:42

My sister called Louiza, and I think it's pretty cool.

onlyanauntie · 24/08/2009 22:33

Love it, esp Luisa, but our surname starts with A, therefore phantom R crops up in middle...off the list

Anste · 25/08/2009 21:13

Its lovely. (Suggested it to my daughter who's due in 5 weeks, but she's already chosen if its a girl).
