Really like 'Malory/Mallorie' but it means 'the unlucky one' - any ideas for something similar?

But not Valerie I'm looking for something more unusual...

So gutted as I love this name, but couldn't give it to my child with a meaning like that!

Any ideas?

The person I once knew called this, was pronounced Marz-lee. Mar-sally sounds orrible.

I like Marsalla too

the chicken tikka variety

I knew a Welsh vet called Melerie, and I always thought that was lovely.

I hardly ever say this, but Marsali, though very pretty, does sound rather like Marsala

Not pronounced like Marsala, though, grendel. Sounds nothing like it

There's Marcella, it's Italian.
I would go with Malory, tbh - where on earth does that meaning come from - there are plenty of people in the world with the name.

I just had to jump in here!

Roomfor2 my DD is a Marley and IMO it is definitely not wrong! I (obviously) think it is a lovely name and it suits her down to the ground. When I was prgenant and heard the name for the first time it made me think of a pretty but spirited little girl, kind of a mixture of tomboy and princess - and that is exactly what she is!

There are plenty of different spelling options too..Marley/Marly/Marli/Marlee/Marleigh

I also love Marlowe for a girl.

Mella? Related to honey in some way.
