Don't want too many flowerpot men jokes!

no, perfectly fine imo

if anyone does try to be funny about it just tell them you've no idea what they're talking about and must have been before your time

MIAonline · 06/08/2009 22:09

Didn't occur to me when I read your thread title. If it bothers you just always say their names the other way around when talking about them. Written down it won't matter anyway.

Like dizzydixies answer to those who dare to say it though

fatzak · 06/08/2009 22:10

DS is William Benjamin - I thought about it before I named him but have never had any comments!

IsItMeOr · 06/08/2009 22:11

Sorry, but DH and I were snorting at this thread title. Personally, I wouldn't.

Surely there are some other nice names you like?

BottySpottom · 06/08/2009 22:17

Isitmeor - well if you are, others probably would . Bugger.

Without snorting I immediately thought of the flowerpot men.

I think cruel would be going a bit far.

Andanotherthing · 06/08/2009 22:34

I didn't even twig when I saw the thread title, but then I am sleep deprived!

Is it going to be something you will worry about if you do give those names?

Issy123 · 07/08/2009 10:09

I wouldn't.

Houseofpants · 07/08/2009 10:20

My dh is Will and son Ben-for siblings I wouldn't do it!

BonsoirAnna · 07/08/2009 10:22

I wouldn't do it! It sounds silly, quite apart from being crashingly boring!

notsoteenagemum · 07/08/2009 10:25

I didn't get it until I opened the thread.

It's not like you're calling them Peppa and George, the flowerpot men are hardly popular now.

moshie · 07/08/2009 10:31

My cousin's children are Will and Ben. Everyone thought it very odd at first but got used to it I suppose.

NoGoodNicknamesLeft · 07/08/2009 10:35

they're nice names, i'd never have guessed, but i guess you will get the occasional comment on it - if that's the kind of thing that would bother you, then don't. ben def better than harry though, as famous boy-name pairings go.

sleepwhenidie · 07/08/2009 10:46

I didn't get it immediately either, but I remember my DH (being a few years older than me ) being in absolute pieces when I first told him my grandparents' names were Lil and Ben....I think the reference will be lost on most people under 30 and certainly of your DC's generation so if you like the names, go for it.

BottySpottom · 07/08/2009 12:09

I think they are still showing the flower pot men though ...

Why crashingly boring BonsoirA?

jellybeans · 07/08/2009 22:27

Too simelar sounding, don't do it!

Concordia · 13/08/2009 00:15

i am 35 and it's all lost on me. I don't see why not.

FatFree · 13/08/2009 01:22

i have known a will and ben for years and have never ever made the connection. i dont see anything wrong with it at all

schmo · 13/08/2009 10:29

I don't see a problem - I didn't make a connection at all and I'm 35. You may find grandparents will comment at first but they'll get used to it!

Issy123 · 13/08/2009 11:06

I think it sounds too similar.

deepdarkwood · 13/08/2009 11:09

I didn't get it til i read the thread.

Don't think it's aproblem, although I do think they are maybe a bit too similar

chandellina · 13/08/2009 14:45

i dont' even know you're talking about but i'm not from these parts originally.

mrsbean78 · 13/08/2009 18:35

I don't know either! Can see no issue so it would prob be a few quick jokes at the outset then never heard of again. Their teachers are likely to be too young to know this too! So don't worry!

kitsmummy · 13/08/2009 21:23

If you actually had a Bill and Ben that would be silly, but no problem with Will and Ben.
