What do you think? Is it getting popular now?
This is our first choice for this baby.

I think it's lovely and haven't heard it used yet although we did consider it as middle name for our dd who was born in March so I guess there is something in the ether

Dozymare · 29/07/2009 22:21

Very pretty. I haven't heard it round here but I am in South Wales so it takes a while for names to travel down the M4!

CountessDracula · 29/07/2009 22:32

lovely but v popular atm in London

hisnibster · 30/07/2009 00:35

I like it. I don't know any.

choosyfloosy · 30/07/2009 00:38

Love it. Wonderful name.

goodasgold · 30/07/2009 00:38

I love it.

revgreen · 30/07/2009 00:41

I like it unless its shortened. I know one who is 8 and she has gone from Cecily to Cess to Cess Pit .

zazen · 30/07/2009 00:42

And celery here.
And, yes, cess is a bad one.

Caitni · 30/07/2009 10:48

Cecily is a gorgeous name - a classic, as I know women called Cecily of all ages.

A similar sounding name which i love even more is Cicely.

loobylu3 · 30/07/2009 14:19

I have gorgeous baby Cecily. It's certainly not popular where we are- infact a lot of people seem to have never heard of it. I can imagine that it is more popular in London. I suppose it depends what you class as popular really. It is a lovely, feminine, classic name.

HelenofSparta · 31/07/2009 10:27

Yes, another London lady here who has heard it more than once! I liked it, but DH pointed out that as our other daughter is called hermione, we would then have the same children's names as Lawrence L--Bowen!!

norktasticninja · 31/07/2009 10:35

It's a beautiful, classic name and I'd love to have used it myself, unfortunately it means 'blind' which put me off , DP wasn't that keen anyway.

If you love it go for it! There will always be other children with the same name but it's certainly not overly popular ATM.

pointydog · 31/07/2009 10:39

I don't like the ss-ss sound of it. Prefer Celia.

oltob · 31/07/2009 12:05

Cecily and Cicely are both lovely. I wanted in our shortlist but OH wouldn't have it, an old disliked boss apparently.
Cece (see-see) seems a more natural nn to me.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 31/07/2009 12:07

I love it. And want it for this baby. But not sure it will suit a boy

oltob · 31/07/2009 17:31

why not Cecil for a boy Pavlov. My first skipper was called Cecil and he was a lovely old bloke, it could be the new Alfie / Archie / Bert / insert turn of the century name due a comeback

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 31/07/2009 17:32

oh no, cecil, not as pretty as cecily!

stripes200 · 31/07/2009 17:34

Very pretty, I like it a lot.

I don't know any so I'd say isn't too popular at all.

MaybeAfterBreakfast · 31/07/2009 17:42

Lovely. Know one baby with this name.

proverbial · 01/08/2009 17:36

Immediately think of THe importance of being earnest and Cousin Cecily....which is not a bad thing!

MrsBadger · 01/08/2009 17:50

too frilly for me

serinBrightside · 02/08/2009 22:30

We loved it for DD, but it clashes with our surname.

nappyaddict · 04/08/2009 03:35
