You know you'd be setting her up to be a right terror, yes?

Thandeka · 16/07/2009 12:55

I love Angel for a boy or girl...
I so wanted to call my dd Angel

thepuddingchef · 16/07/2009 12:58

porn star = name of first pet and mothers maiden name.....

thighsmadeofcheddar · 16/07/2009 12:58

i'm sorry, it's dreadful.

cookielove · 16/07/2009 12:59

i know an angel and she is lovely, she is an adult, now, but i believe as a child she was lovely.

Although do agree with Annie, its like grace, i've looked after a few, none have been very graceful mainly very clumsy little girls, but still very lovely and sweet.

Pinkjenny · 16/07/2009 12:59

I know someone who calls herself Angel and I just cannot bring myself to use it. I avoid calling her by name if possible. Nooooo.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 16/07/2009 13:00

There was an Angel in DD's class for a bit and I will confess to sniggering when I heard her name.

funnypeculiar · 16/07/2009 13:00

Tooooo dangerous.
Especially if you're not blond/pale skinned/stunningly beautiful yourself

MamaLazarou · 16/07/2009 13:12

It's quite nice.

MadameCastafiore · 16/07/2009 13:18

There is an Angel at DDs school. She is short, has heavy calves, wears mascara to school everyday and has highlighted hair! (Carbon copy of mother and grandmother!)

She is 10!

SingleMum01 · 16/07/2009 13:27

My dog is called Angel

JRocks · 16/07/2009 13:34

My niece is called Angel, not a name I'd have chosen, but if you love it, you should use it. It becomes just a name after a while once you know the child.

serinBrightside · 16/07/2009 21:15

Delightful

AnybodyHomeMcFly · 16/07/2009 21:18

No, terrible, too sugary and insipid. Only possibly acceptable as Hispanic man's name (An-Hel).

BakewellTarts · 16/07/2009 21:20

Am I the only one who thinks vampire and David Boreanaz? Very sad I know.

Generally not a fan of virtue names and this wouldn't be a name I'd use.

angel1976 · 16/07/2009 21:22

How about other long forms so she can use Angel for short if she liked?

Angeline
Angelia
Angelina
Angela
Angelique

angelene · 16/07/2009 21:25

Or Angelene

Although check the PJ Harvey song of the same name:

'My first name Angelene
Prettiest mess you've ever seen
Love for money is my sin
Any man calls, I let them in'

Although it is very obscure

franch · 16/07/2009 21:27

Eugh

Don't like any of the longer forms either

CDMforever · 16/07/2009 21:39

There is an Angel at my DS's school. She is quite plump and plain. It's a tough name to live up to.

slowreadingprogress · 16/07/2009 21:44

I do like Angelo for a boy though...

I think names like Angel (or Grace, which is very popular, or Serene) are risking the child being anything but.

I know a number of rather non-graceful Graces I am afraid and the name just seems to emphasise it.

Angel is even worse IYSWIM as it is a less common name so the link to character is more obvious.
