...it is a complete disaster with our surname.

Our surname is a noun, eg imagine our surname was Bananas, Tennyson Bananas sounds like "Tennis and Bananas"!!

Can anyone think of any similar suggestions to Tennyson?

Tristan
Tristram
Timothy
Dennis

moondog · 06/07/2009 19:34

It would be a disaster whatever your last name frankly.

Dennis??

Dennis ??

Greensleeves · 06/07/2009 19:35

well.....she didn't ask for names I like, she asked for names like Tennyson

moondog · 06/07/2009 19:36

True.
(My head still reeling at though of a neonate called Dennis though.)

Greensleeves · 06/07/2009 19:36

I've heard worse

TsarChasm · 06/07/2009 19:38

"Tennis and Bananas" is certainly original though.

Er..Byron?

magbags · 06/07/2009 19:41

Lol at Dennis (but thanks for making suggestions). It's probably a good thing if people think Tennyson is shit as I can't have it now anyway! Add it too the 400 other names which I can't have due to dh unhelpful surname. Oh well.

I love Tennyson. I can't have it as it would sound silly with our surname, too, but it's a fine name.

How about Byron or Darwin?

gladders · 07/07/2009 10:50

was going to suggest byron too - then remembered that the only byron i know is a complete tw*t.....

keates?

ihavenosecrets · 07/07/2009 11:02

Are you a Ben 10 fan?

magbags · 07/07/2009 11:33

What's Ben 10? So in other words, no I'm not.

MerlinsBeard · 07/07/2009 11:42

Tennyson sounds like a surname.

There is a kids TV prog called Ben10 the main character in it is called Ben Tennyson

Pyrocanthus · 07/07/2009 22:27

How do you know it's a boys' name? Have never come across it as a first name, but am prepared to be corrected.

magbags · 08/07/2009 17:47

The model Liberty Ross called her son it. That was the first I had heard it and thought hmm, quite like that.

sorry but I couldn't get round the 'but that's a surname' reaction. You could always try Alfred...

jkklpu · 08/07/2009 21:33

by "like Tennyson", if you just mean a surname, simply choose a surname. I'm afraid I can't be doing with the current craze for baby boys called Rafferty, Cooper, Miller, Logan, etc. etc. They just end up sounding like law firms, especially if they have more than 1 middle name, too.

If you like poets, go for William, John, Percy , Benjamin, Roger, Gerald, TS, almost any forename

Nyrrem · 08/07/2009 21:51

Edison

janeite · 08/07/2009 21:54

Don't like it, sorry.

Tristan is lovely
Sebastian
Thaddeus
Vincent

Byron was a handsome guy but the only Byrons I have ever met have been arrogant sod-balls.

Pyrocanthus · 08/07/2009 23:11

TS is good - or possibly ee.

There you go, magbags, it is a boy's name. It wouldn't have occurred to me, but it does sound very distinguished.

ZippysMum · 10/07/2009 21:46

Harrison
Jamison

rimmer08 · 27/07/2009 19:56

i love the name, i dont know why, but i do

msled · 27/07/2009 20:00

madmissy · 27/07/2009 20:01
