Finn or Tor?

Finn - Tor is a nice sound but sounds as though it's short for something. He will spend his life saying "No, just Tor"

I love the name Finn...my sons name was Finn...I have a Scandinavian background and that where I first heard the name (have fam members with it) and I love the name!! IMO, Tor sounds too much like Thor, and it just makes me think of a very large mean viking!

The most handsome man I've ever known, by some distance, was a Norwegian called Tor. Tall, blonde, sparkling blue eyes. We shared a flat and I had a huge crush on him.

I don't think Tor is a good name for a boy unless it is a nickname for Hector.

Finn is very meh in my opinon as i know so many little boys called Finlay or Finn.

I know a lovely Thor (pronounced Tor), so on that basis I really like the name. It's also nice that it can't be shortened - no need for a nickname.

Finn is ok, but very common these days (common meaning popular).

I have a cousin called Thorphin (he's Orcadian). I always liked that but it would sound silly down South .

Some friends have just given their son the middle name Torin (or Toren), which I really like, no idea where it might come from. Also like Finn, nearly chose it for DS but didn't really go with surname.

I have a Finn, I love his name. Come across a few Finlays but no other Finns so far, don't care anyway, it's perfect for him.
I had a dog called Torrunn (gaelic spelling, pronounced Torin - means thunder in Scottish gaelic.)

I have a Finn too (Finlay) and we is not common
not sure about Tor, but i love Torrunn

T(h)orfinn sounds a good compromise to me.

Torbjörn may be difficult to pronounce but I quite like it (it means the Bear of Thor).

Torsten/Torstein is another possibility (Stone of Thor).

I know a Finn and a Tor and both are lovely boys. There are a lot of Finn's about. The Tor I know is Danish. I would go for Tor but both my kids have Scandinavian names.

I hear Tor as a shortening for Victoria (have a cousin who uses it). So Finn.

Finbarr or Fingal with Fin as nn - both more unusual than Finn on its own
