Samuel Isaac?

Although full name would be Samuel Isaac, we would probably call him Sam most of the time.

This seems to be the only name combination dh and i agree on.

What does everyone else think and does it go with ds1 who is Joshua Thomas (although we call him Josh most of the time).

Fab name and matches perfectly

cookielove · 14/06/2009 14:44

i think it is really nice, rolls off the tongue beautifully

MIAonline · 14/06/2009 15:06

Samuel Isaac is lovely, but there are so many Sam's around. If that doesn't bother you then go for it.

CurryMaid · 14/06/2009 15:18

Lovely.

cookielove · 14/06/2009 15:51

if you insist on it being samuel then it will stick

Ceebee74 · 14/06/2009 15:53

I have to say that both of your boy's names are perfect (guess what my DS1 and DS2 first names are ) - you obviously have very good taste

Samuel Isaac does sound nice

StealthPolarBear · 14/06/2009 16:11

Like it - just check his initials with your surname as there's a lot of potential for embarrassing combinations!

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 14/06/2009 16:24

Love it.

Yes yes yes! Good proper names I say!

Glad everyone seems to like it Thanks for giving me your opinions. We didn't want to tell family and friends yet as we didn't want them trying to put us off or pushing us towards names that they like more.

Surprisingly, Sam isn't a popular name where i live so i'm not too worried about that. The trend seems to be for more unusual names at the moment.

I suppose the only issue is that our surname starts with a C, which would make his initials SIC. Not sure how often people would pick up on that though as children don't often talk about middle names (or am i being a bit optimistic?)

I have a 9 month old Samuel Peter. We call him Sam. I havn't met another baby Sam, although like here, everyone said to me "but there are so many Sams". (Having spent my whole life explaining and spelling my name, these comments did little to deter me).

Our surname begins with C too, which did put us off middle names that begin with vowels, but we chose to name him after someone special anyway. Having experienced a "silly" middle name, kids will talk about them if they are entertaining in any way.

hester · 14/06/2009 21:20

Really lovely. I have to say I don't know any young Sams - it must depend on where you live.

weaselm4 · 14/06/2009 21:21

Like it too, moodylou! A v. good combination.

Ceebee74 · 14/06/2009 21:24

Tbh, I was always under the impression that Sam was a common name but I don't know of any others and it didn't stop me using it anyway.

But then again, Josh is one of the most common names and, other than DS1, I don't know any more of those either

RaisinBoys · 14/06/2009 21:37

Samuel Isaac is great - we've a Samuel too. No other's in his year (2 classes) and we were told it was a common name too.

moodylou · 14/06/2009 23:05

I'm the same Ceebee74, ds1 is the only Joshua that i know even though it is so popular.

There's only one Sam near us that i know of as well so hoping that this won't have changed too much by the time ds2 gets to school

I must be unusual for knowing 4 Sams then
