I like Harry but...

...worry it's a bit too cheeky chappy if you become an earnest or serious teenager/adult. What do you think?

Really struggling on boys' names. Don't really like any of them and picking holes in the ones i do quite like.

I don't think it sounds cheeky chappy at all. You get a very diverse mix of people called Harry. It suits anyone. Lovely name for a baby, child, teenager, man, older man.

The same goes for Samuel or Sam, imo.

Oh good, thanks. I did this with dd's name, which is now just so perfect for her. It's like you finally find names you like and then create reasons why they're wrong.

We plan to name DC3 Henry, but he'll be Harry for short.

I love Ned and Jonny/John though.

I always think Harry was a fighter pilot in WW2. And who wouldn't have been proud of their son doing that?

No, it'll be straight Harry or not Harry at all. And although I like Edward I don't like Ed so not keen on other Ed names! Sorry, contrary!

I have an Edward, Ned for short. Its a lovely name I think.

Edward is lovely. I sort of wish we hadn't wasted it as a middle name for DS1 now!

It makes me think of Ned Flanders from The Simpsons. And it's a Scottish word for a thug/chav.

Why are names so hard?

What about Henry with Harry as an everyday name?
I'm not so keen on Johnny as a name alone but I like Jonathan.
I like Edward too and then you can use Ned but future DS can have a choice of other shortenings?
