Really beginning to grow on me...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

It's gentle.

Almost too gentle. No hard sounds at all.

It's rather lovely in a perfumed upper class old-lady way.

Have you though Cecilia (like in Attonement?)

Or Cecile (French version)

Or even Celia?

norktasticninja · 11/06/2009 22:04

I love it and it's variants too, unfortunately the all mean 'blind', which put me off using it myself...

Beautiful names though

suwoo · 11/06/2009 22:04

It was my first choice for this baby, but he is a boy . There are lots of threads referring to Cecily- I checked the archives. One factor, I foundd extremely off-putting is that the name means 'blind'. Might be no big deal to some, but I found that it bothered me.

Absolutely gorgeous.

loobylu3 · 12/06/2009 09:43

Gorgeous-my beautiful 3 month old baby's name so I love it! We have had mainly positive reactions to the name, although some people have never heard of it before!

How do you say it?

SISCLE LEE
or
CECIL LEE?

sonniboo · 12/06/2009 10:40

Sadly, the meaning 'blind' is not very nice...

sophiesmummie · 12/06/2009 10:55

Lovely sounding name, but its meaning would put me off....

frisbyrat · 12/06/2009 11:15

Nice. If the blind thing bothers you, how about Cicely, another derivative, wbut which is also a rather pretty plant

I know what you mean about people being unsure how to spell it but I've had that with my older daughter's name too and even my son's name on occasion (which I though was pretty straightforward)!

The only problem I can see (if you can get over the meaning) is if the child were to have a lisp...

Thunderduck · 12/06/2009 19:48

I love it.

coffeecups · 12/06/2009 20:15

love it

barnsleybelle · 12/06/2009 20:29

Not keen, sorry.

loveofotters · 13/06/2009 10:11

Too overly posh

princessmel · 13/06/2009 10:13

I know a Cecily and love it.

I had never heard it before though and it took a while to get used to.

dizzydixies · 13/06/2009 10:30

I used Cecelia as DD2's mn and wished I'd kept it as a first name for DD3

they're all lovely

serin · 13/06/2009 22:09

I love it, we would have had it for our DD but it clashes very badly with our surname.

thumbwitch · 13/06/2009 22:11

fine so long as she doesn't have a lisp. I always loved it but as I got older the practicalities of it meant it slipped down my personal ratings list.

sleepyhead3 · 14/06/2009 12:48

Love it!

sifuentes · 15/06/2009 12:41

has been in my top 5 for a while
