I don't want to know if you hate them (but I am prepared for some comments or I would be silly posting here).

How would you spell these names? The babies in question are half Arabic, half Welsh, so pretty exotic looking.

Layla is nice.

Kayden is a uber common (in both senses) here.

knickers0nmahead · 08/06/2009 00:09

all sound chavvy.

nooka · 08/06/2009 04:18

Leila looks nicest, but Layla is probably more likely to be pronounced with a "lay" as opposed to a "lee" sound if that's what you want. Layla looks very 70's to me but as the name is from the Arabic either spelling is as "right". Caden is a popular name where I live (Canada). I wouldn't choose any of the variants you have suggested.

AuntyAnna · 08/06/2009 09:34

Leila I don't like Kayden however its spelt

bleh · 08/06/2009 09:39

I think Leila means night. How about (throws spanner in works) spelling it Lailah? or Laila? I think it's the y that causes problems.

Lancelottie · 08/06/2009 09:41

Are they yours? If so, I'm wishing you and your little fighters all the best, whatever their names.

JoPie · 08/06/2009 16:20

Love Layla, with a y, how can Eric Clapton be chavvy? I agree if you spell it Leila you are going to get Leela whether you like it or not.
Don't really like the boys name but if pushed Caden, as it is an actual proper spelling.

Rachmumoftwo · 08/06/2009 23:19

They are not mine, I was asked to look at spellings for a friend. I didn't like Caden (best spelling ) at first but it has grown on me. Layla is a beautiful name and has many ways of being spelt.

I would like to add that chavvy is a horrible, nasty expression that should be banned, but I have posted on that before and found that nice people seem to agree!

Leila

knickers0nmahead · 10/06/2009 20:38

so because i say something sounds chavvy, it means im not a nice person? Okaaaay

Innat · 12/06/2009 17:02

According to the baby name book i got from the library...
Cade and Caden originated as surnames and are currently popular in the US for both sexes.
Spellings listed are: Caden (most popular) followed by Kaden, Kaiden, Cade, Cayden, Caiden, Kade, Kadin, Kaeden and Kadyn for boys with Kayden being most popular for girls. Also says there are other spellings recorded!

I think I would spell it Layla or Leila, but again book lists loads more spellings: Laila, Lailah, Leala, Leilah, Leyla, Lyla, Lila and Lilah although i think the pronounciation of hte last few would be different.

Hope I haven't confused you even more!

My cousin is a Layla and she is half Iranian so I'm assuming that would be the correct spelling?

I think it's a really pretty, feminine name

Supercherry · 12/06/2009 19:54

Sorry, I mean Leyla

Jaquelinehyde · 12/06/2009 20:01

My sister names her newborn Leala, so I suppose thats the same sounding as Leila but spelt different.

FanjolinaJolie · 19/06/2009 17:26

Like Leila.

Afraid I very much dislike Caidan unless it is a favourite cultural name.

TotallyAndUtterlyPaninied · 20/06/2009 10:41

LOVE THESE NAMES!!!!!!!!

I have a Kaeden- there's a few about now. It is Arabic. But the Arabic spelling is Kaden.

YOU HAVE GREAT TASTE!!!

Firawla · 20/06/2009 10:56

not Laylah with a h it doesnt look right at all. Layla or Leila are both fine, personally i like Layla

I think Caiden is easiest/simplest sp, although you didnt mention this one
