I've no idea how people cope when name choices drag on for months...

I'm only 6 weeks but I think we have a girls name - the ONE name DH and I have agrees on (still looking for a boy's name)

What does everyone think of Tess...?

Any thoughts of a middle name to go with it (we don't use family names for middle names, just ones that go and we like...)

NIce name, but give her the full Theresa and just call her that.

Hardy fan are we Bathsheba?

nickytwotimes · 26/05/2009 11:51

I mean just call her Tess.

daniwalkes · 26/05/2009 11:52

i love Tess, i think thats a really pretty name, short and sweet. is it short for anything or just tess?

Sheeta · 26/05/2009 11:53

Love Tess.. it's one of my favourite girls names.

Bathsheba · 26/05/2009 11:53

I DO love Hardy (can't get DH to agree on Diggory for a boy though...or Jude, or Gabriel...or Clym...or Angel...or frankly anything...)

We would just call her Tess rather than "Teresa to be shortened to Tess"..

I know an Esther shortened to Tess - like both names, not keen on Theresa

ataraxis · 26/05/2009 11:55

Gorgeous, doesn't need a middle name imo

nickytwotimes · 26/05/2009 11:57

Well, just go for it then!
It is serious enough as a short name to stand alone when I think about it.
Love Jude and Gabriel too for boys.

Poppity · 26/05/2009 12:02

I think Ophelia goes well with Tess, it does depend on your surname though, is it long or short?

Bathsheba · 26/05/2009 12:08

Oh, forgot our surname - its and M - think Matthews (as thats very similar..)

She would need a middle name as she'd be DD3 and DD1 and DD2 both have middle names...

Florence?
It would stay with the Hardy reference if you want that.

Poppity · 26/05/2009 12:31

I think the character Tess was based on a real life person called Augusta, I've read it before but I can't find the link now.

MrsMattie · 26/05/2009 13:19

Great name.

dizzydixies · 26/05/2009 14:08

lovely, MIL is Teresa and we chose to use either Tess, Rae or Reese as a MN in honour of her depending on which first name we chose. Rae went best with her chosen name but I still love Tess

Bathsheba · 26/05/2009 16:50

Looks like we are going for Tess Phoebe...

Thanks everyone..!

I love Tess and Tessa. In fact, I can be shortened to them, but in my case, it's just BEGGING for chants of "ten ton Tessie" so I don't bother

dizzydixies · 26/05/2009 18:38

lol, we almost had DD2 Phoebe Tess but for a last minute change

lovely name

nkf · 26/05/2009 18:39

Lovely name.

missmapp · 26/05/2009 18:49

Love the name, my mum is a tessa tho' and hates it!

boodleboot · 26/05/2009 20:34

Tess Katy....that sounds lovely.

rubyslippers · 26/05/2009 20:35

Tess or Tessa - lovely

katster37 · 27/05/2009 15:14

That's our girl choice too - it's by far and away my favourite girl's name! However the sonographer at 13 weeks seemed to think we were having a boy, so am not sure we will get to use it This time, anyway...

KERALA1 · 27/05/2009 18:46

Love it. Don't understand why its not more popular but only come across one little one called it and I have come across alot of mums and toddler/babies

janeite · 27/05/2009 18:53

Jude or Gabriel for a boy both lovely. Whatever you do, don't go for Angel though, as he's a pillock!

I like Tess: it's one of the few names both dp and I really liked for dd1 but it really didn't go with his surname. I don't like Theresa though, just Tess.
