How many of you chose names....

..based on the names of your existing siblings?
I mean no malice or judgement and am not trying to be contentious, I am simply curious because having seen at least 3 threads recently where OPs have asked if a name they like for their new baby goes ok with the names of the children they already have, it begs the question - am I in the minority having chosen 4 boys names for my sons purely on the merit of each individual name rather than on what they "sound" like when all said together?

(Obviously, the combinations of Bill and Ben, Will and Grace, Dick and Dom etc are borne in mind ...but that aside....)

Yes they should 'go'...think how it would sound signing cards etc....

Lots of love,

but why does it matter how it sounds?

i might think to myself how different the choices of name were, but so what?

FrankMustard · 18/05/2009 21:58

what's wrong with those names together, marymungoandmidge? I can't see the problem?

There are crazy people out there who name their children so they all have names starting with the same letter crazy crazy people!

wastingmyeducation · 18/05/2009 22:43

Me and DH have the same intitial. If DS had been a DD we'd have all had the same initial. Not on purpose, just the girls name we loved. I was really concerned that any subsequent children would also need the same initial or they'd feel left out.
Only problem is if we ever have a DD I'm not sure that girls name would go with DS name.

Ha Ha FM!!

Mine are all biblical although different testaments.

One is a son of Adam and Eve, one is a minor female in the new testament and one is an angel.

I do fear people might think I belive in God .

not trying to choose a name for forthcoming DC based on our DS, however, have realised that you should take it into consideration.
For instance, I really loved the name 'Joy' for ages. I finally twigged that it would make life a bit difficult/confusing when we call our DS 'Joey'

So some thought - not a lot!

Also matching surname. There are some intials for a first name that I wouldnt use specifically because I'd assume there'd be a certain amount of teasing in later life. Not dreadfully bad. But I'd rather avoid that if I can!

Same here roled hedgehog, my 2 boys are both biblical and DC3 miht be too, but we are staunch atheists
They both also start with the same letter, which is apparently bad? I won't do that with a third thouh, they just happened to both be J's....
