.....which do you prefer also taking into account we have a DS called Harry?

Still working on boys names .....

Like both of those. Slight preference for Matilda but don't know why. Actually no, like them both the same.
Freddie for a boy?

Blu · 15/05/2009 18:47

Both are lovely.

Matilda has more variations, perhaps - mattie, tilly, tilda, if you are likely to shorten.

Phoebe will more often be wrongly spelled!

I like Phoebe a lot.

basementbear · 15/05/2009 18:48

Matilda definitely. There seem to be lots of Phoebes, around here anyway!

sockmonster · 15/05/2009 18:49

I definitely prefer Matilda, though Phoebe goes nicely with Harry too. It's just Phoebe is one of those names that I like the sound of but hate it written down, it reminds me of amoeba and phlegm! Sorry!! Matilda gets my vote and it has more nickname potential, but Phoebe isn't used as often at the moment and isn't horrendous!

gloomysue · 15/05/2009 18:59

Both lovely names but slightly prefer Matilda.

lechatnoir · 15/05/2009 19:00

thanks jambutty I do like Freddie (along with Oscar & Charlie) but can't use as various family got in there first

I quite like Zac although not keen on Zachery and do like Otis but think it sounds a bit 'hip' next to traditional Harry . Otherwise stumped for boys.

I love Matilda but DP doesn't so please use it for me! Phoebe is really nice too though.

WinkyWinkola · 15/05/2009 19:12

Matilda.

dizzydixies · 15/05/2009 19:19

either are lovely and Harry needs a brother called George

rubyslippers · 15/05/2009 19:19

both gorge IMO

RedCharityBonney · 15/05/2009 19:28

Either. Mild preference for Phoebe. What do you think of Imogen?

wotulookinat · 15/05/2009 19:28

Both are good names. Taking Harry into account, I would choose Matilda.

Heated · 15/05/2009 19:31

Both are lovely. Slight preference for Matilda. Really like Tilda btw as a nn, over the more ubiquitous Tilly.

tootiredtothink · 15/05/2009 19:32

Love, love, love Matilda - would have had it for dd but our surname begins with M .

However, also like Phoebe.

violethill · 15/05/2009 19:46

Phoebe. Matilda is just too popular these days

changer22 · 15/05/2009 19:48

Matilda

lechatnoir · 15/05/2009 22:15

Violethill I thought that too but Phoebe is listed as much more popular on all the 'top 100' lists so maybe it's a regional thing!

Oh & DH doesn't like Imogen RCB!

Matilda, without a doubt! It's dd's name, and my absolute favourite girl's name, even though our surname begins with M (I don't understand the problem with alliteration myself). Phoebe is really common at the moment.

cthea · 16/05/2009 21:24

Phoebe

RachieB · 17/05/2009 19:37

Phoebe

Matilda reminds me of a mouse! and don't like NN's Tilda or Tilly

19fran76 · 17/05/2009 19:39

Both names are lovely, prefer Matilda teamed with Harry.
