How posh is Hugo?

I love it, so does DP, but made the mistake of mentioning it to a few people and they all screwed their faces up. Is it nice but dim?

peachy - we have Annabel picked out if it's a girl.
We already have two DD's - and one of them is Kitty (similar to Katja/Katia I guess!) The other is a name that pops up on here now and again in the context of 'margerine or not' - I say not, obviously!
As I said, excellent taste!

If you have a double-barrelled surname it might sound quite lordly, but what's wrong with that anyway! Hugo's a great name!
I'd advise NOT mentioning names you're considering to anyone before the baby is born -wait til baby is born, name them and then tell people what the names are and dare anyone to turn their nose up at a name that's already been given to a child!

I have a brand new Hugo! My Mum named my bump Hugo at about 20 weeks, so by the time he actually appeared I couldn't think of him as anything else. Agree with the worries about possible poshness, but we decided that if he didn't like it when he's older, Hugh is a bit less posh/ more cool!

That's really cute to call your baby Huggy. And when he is 16 you can call him it in front of his girlfriend and it will be really funny.

ok our lorry driver turned up to do a delivery once and the customer introduced hiself as "Hugo" he was a guy in his twenties - our non too tactful driver nearly wet himself laughing and said "Hugo? - you dont call anyone Hugo these days!!!!!"

just a thought.......

I used to think it was, but I now know a very middle middle class Hugo and it seems to fit him.

peachy - just had my baby on Wednesday and we've called him.............................HUGO! MIL is very disapproving but most people seem to have taken it quite well. Have had a few 'posh' comments about it but I'm loving it and it suits him down to the ground.

It would be considered mega posh in my area. I like it tbh, but lot's of noses would be screwed up round here i have to admit.

I know a baby Hugo who is definiately not posh. I used to be surprised when I heard it, but not anymore. He is Hughie for short. I like it.
