I love it, so does DP, but made the mistake of mentioning it to a few people and they all screwed their faces up. Is it nice but dim?

Frazzled yay! Up the Hugos. Do you have a girls name if you don't mind me asking? Great minds, and all that...
We've got Katja/Katia.

Nancy wot wot! Going to start saving for some of these

peachy - we have Annabel picked out if it's a girl.
We already have two DD's - and one of them is Kitty (similar to Katja/Katia I guess!) The other is a name that pops up on here now and again in the context of 'margerine or not' - I say not, obviously!
As I said, excellent taste!

Best of luck with your baby.

If you have a double-barrelled surname it might sound quite lordly, but what's wrong with that anyway! Hugo's a great name!
I'd advise NOT mentioning names you're considering to anyone before the baby is born -wait til baby is born, name them and then tell people what the names are and dare anyone to turn their nose up at a name that's already been given to a child!

I have a brand new Hugo! My Mum named my bump Hugo at about 20 weeks, so by the time he actually appeared I couldn't think of him as anything else. Agree with the worries about possible poshness, but we decided that if he didn't like it when he's older, Hugh is a bit less posh/ more cool!

Good luck!

That's really cute to call your baby Huggy. And when he is 16 you can call him it in front of his girlfriend and it will be really funny.

Horsiemummy · 15/05/2009 21:05

ok our lorry driver turned up to do a delivery once and the customer introduced hiself as "Hugo" he was a guy in his twenties - our non too tactful driver nearly wet himself laughing and said "Hugo? - you dont call anyone Hugo these days!!!!!"

just a thought.......

screamingabdab · 15/05/2009 21:20

Posh

How about Huw?

SallyJayGorce · 15/05/2009 21:23

Not posh any more - know one and he ain't posh - lovely but very normal. But who cares if we like it? Do you? Then have it and enjoy your boy!

rosbif · 19/05/2009 12:54

love it, have one myself in fact...

wotulookinat · 19/05/2009 13:00

Great name!
Hugo monkey's funky jungle conga... Makes me smile everytime!

BottySpottom · 24/05/2009 12:35

I used to think it was, but I now know a very middle middle class Hugo and it seems to fit him.

frazzledoldbag · 24/05/2009 14:34

peachy - just had my baby on Wednesday and we've called him.............................HUGO! MIL is very disapproving but most people seem to have taken it quite well. Have had a few 'posh' comments about it but I'm loving it and it suits him down to the ground.

boodleboot · 24/05/2009 16:46

congratulations on your wonderful news frazzled i love the name HUGO.....its adorable yet strong too.....well done you.

pranma · 03/06/2009 15:32

Its a lovely name so is Guy

barnsleybelle · 03/06/2009 15:39

It would be considered mega posh in my area. I like it tbh, but lot's of noses would be screwed up round here i have to admit.

belgo · 03/06/2009 15:45

It's not posh at all imo, just a bit old fashioned. Prefer Hugh.

PrimulaVeris · 03/06/2009 15:50

Deffo posh

But getting more popular now so may get less posh in future?

stillstanding · 03/06/2009 15:53

I think it is quite posh but absolutely lovely. I would love a Hugo! Congratulations Frazzled!!

PuppyMonkey · 03/06/2009 15:58

I think it's very poncey tbh, sorry.

BikeRunSki · 03/06/2009 23:09

I know a baby Hugo who is definiately not posh. I used to be surprised when I heard it, but not anymore. He is Hughie for short. I like it.
