Name combinations- do they go??

Some of you may have read my recent threads on a couple of middle names we are considering for our baby girl due soon.
The baby is of mixed race and we are considering using an English first name and a more unusual middle name. We will also be using a second family middle name which has one syllable so the first middle name needs to have 2-3 syllables.
The middle names we like at the moment are:

Valentina
Allegra
Amalia

First names pos are:

Susanna
Cecily
Beatrice

I know they are all fairly long names but I'm not keen to go with Rose/ Grace, etc as middle names as they are just a bit popular! do you think any of them work well/ badle as combinations? Would value some opinions!

Cecily Valentina is gorgeous!!

LaDiDaDi · 28/04/2009 22:01

I think that Cecily Valentina and Beatrice Allegra work well together.

I don't think that Susanna works with any of your middle name choices as they all have an "a" ending and it just doesn't work after the "a" ending on Susanna.

jkklpu · 28/04/2009 22:05

it's an awful lot of syllables from just 2 names, especially if there's a 3rd forename, too; not sure I follow the logic of needing a long one, tbh

how about Cecily Valentina?
not convinced by Susanna + another ending in -a
Susanna Clemency?
Susanna Eloise?
Beatrice Lena?

summermumtobe · 28/04/2009 22:08

The logic of needing a longer first middle name is that is dosen't flow too well to have say Cecily Rose Jane so a 2 or 3 sllb first middle name would sit better I think.

Just a thought - but you could use the "middle name" as the first one in the name, and actually use the "English" name as an everyday name, if you see what I mean? It might flow better? I think it's not that uncommon in Wales (but that could just be my family).

eg Valentina Cecily Jane Summermumtobe but "known as" Cecily.

loobylu3 · 29/04/2009 13:46

I like them all as individual names. I think my favourite combination is Cecily Valentina

summermumtobe · 01/05/2009 21:30

What do you think of Cecily Aphra? Just saw it on another thread and really liking Aphra!

I'm a big fan of Cecily- my DD (nearly 1) is Cecily Jean Olivia.

Lotster · 01/05/2009 22:46

I know a Cecily Violet, pretty combo.

CandleQueen · 01/05/2009 22:49

I love Aphra.

I'd use it as a first name, but i know DH would veto it!

summermumtobe · 02/05/2009 11:05

I love Cecily Violet lotster but I'm not sure DH has been to keen when I've suggested it!

susanna valentina is my fave
but i would have valentina as a first name if my surname didn't begin with D.

Valentina allegra

summermumtobe · 02/05/2009 11:15
