Erm...

It would be okay if you have a short surname.

busterk · 23/04/2009 12:00

Surname is quite plain and common.

Thanks for replying FelineFine.

MamaG · 23/04/2009 12:03

I know a cole.

belgo · 23/04/2009 12:05

short for Colin

rubyslippers · 23/04/2009 12:06

Cole Porter

Wigglesworth · 23/04/2009 12:10

Vile, sorry. He will get called Arsecole by mean kids too.

busterk · 23/04/2009 12:10

I take it you don't like branflake? Ha Ha

I like it - although I'm not sure of the type of person - ie age mostly - that it suits. It was Hayley Joel Osmet's name in The Sixth Sense and didn't seem to work for him (consequently it reminds me of Toni Colette...) so I'm not sure it suits a little boy. But at the same time, I'm not sure it suits an older man either...

Tricky...

suwoo · 23/04/2009 12:17

Its my nephews name, they have a long surname. It wouldn't be one of my choices but it suits him. He is 8.

Cole and Dylan Sprouse are the Disney Channel twins that play Zak and Cody so it may become more popular.

LaaDeDa · 23/04/2009 12:22

It's my ds's name although spelt Coel (Welsh). It suits him and is unusual (dd's name became popular just as she was born so nice to have one a bit more individual) but you will forever have to repeat it as people seem to hear Carl.

busterk · 23/04/2009 12:23

I am not expecting I have just liked this name for ages and wanted to get a feel for other people's opinions.

My DD has the most popular girls name around just now so trying to think of something not as popular.

OP posts:
busterk · 23/04/2009 12:25

LaaDeDa, I didn't realise how popular dd's name was when I had her.

So i agree with you one not quite a popular would be nice.

FelineFine · 23/04/2009 12:36

I like it.

busterk · 23/04/2009 12:45

Thanks FelineFine, have you had a chance to think about it?

OP posts:
FelineFine · 23/04/2009 12:48

Yes, it won't get too common either.

I was slightly swayed as I was thinking about Ashley Cole wanker but as a first name it would be nice.

I like one syllable names, very good for shouting purposes.

Leannabanana · 23/04/2009 12:48

nope don't like it sorry. makes me think instantly of cashley cole....and he is git....

LaaDeDa · 23/04/2009 12:53

Yes it's nice as it (obviously!) isn't to everyone's taste so there won't be loads but it's not soooo unusual people haven't got a clue how to pronounce it either.

flooziesusie · 23/04/2009 13:41

Tom Cruise played a character called Cole Trickle in the Days of Thunder - racing car flick, met Nicole Kidman in it.

I quite like it. But not for the that reason...

DevilsAdvocaat · 23/04/2009 13:47

my dh is colin but everyone calls him cole.
i think it is a young trendy name but maybe i'm biased

i would consider on my list if it wasn't dh's name.

however, people sometimes think his name is carl!

Phoenix · 23/04/2009 20:13

I like it

An ex work colleague called her son Cole and the 'I see dead people' boy in The Sixth Sense was called Cole.

jellybeans · 24/04/2009 22:54

I quite like it.

ilovesprouts · 26/04/2009 21:56
