oveer shortened name but her 'full' name just doesn't ring 100% with me ... I don't dislike it but theres anoother name that just seems to be 'her'.

DH doesn't entertain me thinking about the other name.

Ah well.

oveer should have been 'I love her'

Not really much you can do about it now. I dislike my daughter's shortened version of her name, but it's what everyone calls her so I have to put up with it.

nappyaddict · 12/04/2009 14:30

Could you use a different name put keep the nickname. Rory means Dawn. You could use that? Or Lorelai can be shortened to Rory. I love Aurora though. There was a thread on here a while ago where someone changed their child's name quite late about 10 months I think.

tiggerlovestobounce · 12/04/2009 14:32

What are the names?

Kotek · 12/04/2009 14:32

there's lots of posts on here about parents changing their child's name within the first few months. It's a very very simple process within the first 12 months of registering the birth. See if you can grow into the full name, I'm sure you will, but if not then you can think about amending the birth certificate. good luck

Disenchantegg3 · 12/04/2009 14:33

She was born at Dawn , I do like it alot. I love it really.

I love calling her Rorie and that suits her so much. But I never say 'aurora' and if I do it doesn't sound like her name, its like Rorie is her name rather than Aurora.

I don't think it matters too much really, they change so much as they grow. Ds was always called by a nickname as a baby but now we only ever call him by his full name. Dd is known only by a nickname and her full name seems very grown up and not quite her but I like that she has all the options there when she is bigger.

nappyaddict · 12/04/2009 14:49

It doesn't matter if you don't use the full name but it's nice to give the full name rather than just the nickname cos it gives them a choice when they are older.

vess · 12/04/2009 17:53

Aurora is a nice name, but not one that would 'suit' a baby, it's more of a grown-up name. She'll grow into it.

Disenchantegg3 · 12/04/2009 19:37

Yes I think thats true Vess, Rorie suits her now but as she grows I think Aurora will become more appropriate to her

Disenchantegg3 My mum Christened me Katrina and my sister Emeline but always called us Katie and Emma and then as we got older we chose to use our full names and are really glad of the variety! Nice one mum! I think your fine with your choice! My unborn will be named Imogen but DH and I already refer to her as Immie! family trend you might say
