Ok so how terrible would it be to use Bluebell, really?

Because I love it

It is very very unusual, in fact the only one I know of is Geri Halliwell's daughter (and that's not why I like it)

H thinks it'd be cruel, but I think that as it's a flower name it's not that weird surely?

So what do you think?

It's cute

cupofteaplease · 07/04/2009 19:27

I quite like it- and Geri Halliwell's little girl is beautiful so that's no bad thing.

screamingabdab · 07/04/2009 20:25

janeite How about Icantbelieveitsnotbutter ?

pavlovthepregnantcat · 07/04/2009 20:27

i love it for baby/toddler - as a teen she would be picked on immensely and as an adult she would change it!

popsycal · 07/04/2009 20:27

Geri Halliwell was my immediate thougth

pointydog · 07/04/2009 20:29

not good

popsycal · 07/04/2009 20:29

what about Iris
lovely name imo

janeite · 07/04/2009 20:30

Mmm - Lurpak might be good too. Clover is from 'What Katy Did' though and I have a bit of a 'thing' for book-inspired names.

Tinker · 07/04/2009 20:31

I think it's pretty bad. Can't imagine anyone actually wanting to be called Bluebell

DumbledoresGirl · 07/04/2009 20:38

I can't believe you have had such a poor response here. I am with Spidermama. I love it and I don't like most other flower names for girls.

chaya5738 · 07/04/2009 20:51

Sorry but I really don't like it.

What about Poppy?

Tinker · 07/04/2009 20:55

Have to say, I just don't know how I'd feel about it were it not for Geri Haliwell - she's completed tainted most people's reaction to it, I imagine

BabyBaby123 · 07/04/2009 20:58

fine as a middle name....

spiderpig · 07/04/2009 21:14

Hmmmmm I have to admit I'm quiet heartened to see a few positive responses

Wrt the geri halliwell thing, if you liked the name (and it wasnt a 'cow' name [wink[ ) would that really put you off?

It's just that I'm thinking that she's pretty obscure now, in a few years people might not even really think about it?

really terrible imo. 10/10 terrible (and I have a history of being very lovely and encouraging on baby name threads generally)

ItsMargotBeauregarde · 07/04/2009 21:16

I like it. But I am bored of Poppy, Daisy and Lily. I want to hear other flower names. Somebody on this board has a Marigold. I also like Camellia, Dahlia and Freesia is interesting.

Blue isn't chav?? I've got a really sensitive chavometre. I have never met a Blue though. Not keen on Lola though. Bit flimsy and cutesy. No backbone. Just silly. Bluebell sounds a stronger character by far.

midnightexpress · 07/04/2009 21:18

Yuk. Geri Halliwell and cows. And Trying Too Hard.

And what would it get shortened to I wonder? Blue? Bluey?

PuppyMonkey · 07/04/2009 21:23

My dd2 is called Esme Bluebell. And it really suits her so ner ner ner ner ner to all the boring old farts who don't like it.

We also toyed with Blossom so double ner ner ner ner ner.

ItsMargotBeauregarde · 07/04/2009 21:28

I think that's lovely!

Blossom isn't so great. Rhymes with Possom. Me.no.like.

MrsMattie · 07/04/2009 21:30

Not keen. The Halliwell connotations are 6so^ strong for me.

All the little Lolas I know are posh .

Blossom is hideous.

frazzledgirl · 07/04/2009 22:07

Pretty word, but not a name.

And the shame of being thought of as a Geri Halliwell wannabe would finish me off.

Sorry

mrsturnip · 08/04/2009 09:01

spiderpig I want to contact you but you have chosen not to receive CATS (not that I can send them anyway).

Can you email me on nezumi35 at googlemail dot com

Thank you

I like Bluebell btw.

silverfrog · 08/04/2009 09:36

I actually really like Bluebell, which is so unlike me (my dds have hvery traditional names, although i did petition slightly for Bluebell (knew dh would never go for it!))

I remember when geri Halliwell had her baby, and everyone was saying what an awful name, and all i could think was "That's really pretty"

I say go for it!

SouthernMeerkat · 08/04/2009 09:46

I'm not sure I like it - purely because my first thought was it's a cow's name, and then second thought was celebrity daughter's name....(couldn't remember who it was - don't read the celebrity mags etc) - but finding out it was GH completely put me off it!!

I also agree with people who say that an adult would change it. My test is the professional name one - if I came across a doctor or a lawyer called Bluebell, could I take them seriously - and the answer I'm afraid is no. If you are budding thespians or rock stars, then it's probably ok.

Simplysally · 08/04/2009 09:53

It's a lovely name but unless your dd is going to be 6ft tall and weear a sparkly headdress to dance on stage in Paris - maybe not .
