Love it!

compo · 10/03/2009 19:42

not keen
would you call the baby Bertie maybe or Albie? both of which I don't like

ellenjames · 10/03/2009 19:43

like it x

mersmam · 10/03/2009 19:43

That is encouraging
We're really struggling with boy's names and it seems to be all me and DH can agree on - still not 100% sure though and wanted some opinions!

Probably would not shorten it Compo - I'm not too keen on the shortenings either.

Not a lot, sorry. Just makes me think of a baby with a bunnet and pipe.

mersmam · 10/03/2009 19:46

But Wheesht - noone could ever get depressed in life if they had a baby with a bunnet and pipe

True mersmam

mersmam · 10/03/2009 19:52

Oh Allie is a nice shortening Lockets - would not have thought of it.

I like Allie

nigglewiggle · 10/03/2009 20:08

Love it. It was our boy's name but i've had 2xDD's.

Issy123 · 10/03/2009 20:10

My DS2 is called Albert he is 2 months old, we have had a mixed reaction some love it some don't. We call him Albert or Albie I prefer that to Bertie. My DS1 is called Henry.

2Helenback · 10/03/2009 20:12

I love it.

However, in Worcester it tends to be pronounced 'Olbert' for some strange reason, and as we have a lot of family with broad ooharr accents we discounted it for that reason.

Thunderduck · 10/03/2009 20:43

Hate it.

sunshineday · 10/03/2009 20:56

Love it

frazzledoldbag · 10/03/2009 20:59

There is a divine Albert in DD's class. He is 7 and from Spain and he is pronounced Al-bearrrr. He is so gorgeous he has made me love the name!
I also like Ally / Allie as a shortened version - I wouldn't have thought of that. Nice.

angrypixie · 10/03/2009 21:14

Love it Albert and Albie but also love Arthur

Tidey · 10/03/2009 21:17

My immediate thought was 'genital piercing' but that probably says more about me than the name.

mumoftoby · 10/03/2009 21:51

I love Albie but not sure about Albert. It is my name for DC3 that I am trying to persuade my DH to have with me - but he has booked a vasectomy.

mersmam · 11/03/2009 10:49

A lot of people seem to like it so that's encouraging!
Tidey - not sure where that idea comes from and probably best you don't tell me as I may go off the name for good...

I love this name and love it shortened to Bertie. Makes me think of the Kate Bush song about her son called Bertie - realise this could put a lot of people off but I think the words are so sweet "you bring me so much joy and then you bring me more joy". I am trying to persuade DH to go with Albert if we have a boy but he isn't keen.

doggus · 11/03/2009 23:21

Tidey - I thought of that too but there can't be many more people out there like us, mersmam.

I love it - it is on my short list too.

LaDiDaDi · 11/03/2009 23:24

Sorry, I thought of genital piercings too .
