Bailey for a Boy?

What do you think about Bailey for a boy?

I think it sounds like a cool little chappie, even as an adult.

My worries are that it sounds more like a girls' name, and that a close friend has Bailey as her surname!

Can I get past the unisex/girlie-ness & surname-ness and have the confidence to go for it?!

It's a naughty name!
But I have a Charlie and about to have a Jack which are both "Naughty" names

Like it. Wanted it for my 3rd, except she was a girl.

My friend has a son called Bailey.

My grandad also had the middle name Bailey and was in his eighties when he died, so maybe not as modern as it sounds!

Lockets- I agree about Bailey from party of five!. I loved that show .

Don't like it, sorry. Think it sounds a bit chavvy.

Also, it doesn't help that I know someone who named his son that, since the parents were drunk on Baileys at the time of conception

I did have a secret fear about the doggie thing, booze association etc. Never saw Party of 5, but according to Dh the actor was in an episode of CSI the other night... I saw him, he looked hot, but that is a whole other thing!

my friend's DS is Bailey (now 6) and the most adorable thing on 2 legs name suits him well too although i also know of (not personally!) a red setter and a chocolate lab with the same name!

My DS2 thinks it's a little boys name and not a teenager or mans name - but he's only 13 so doesn't have much wisdom

It sounds more like a girls name to me. Maybe because Baileys is more of a girly drink. It is not for me really but eh if you like it...

The only Bailey I know is a female chocolate lab. Never heard of it for a boy. What about Billy?

I love the name Bailey but DhH'd blumming Aunty had some dog forever ago called Bailey so that made it a dogs name apparently... DH then suggested Ben!!? lol

I think the same as lockets (sorry lockets I always seem to stalk you and agree with you on these baby name threads!!). I am currently re watching Party of Five on Sky so that's what I instantly thought of that, I like it.

I agree with Madamecastafiore - sorry, it is a chav's name. Maybe as a middle name if you love it, funnily enough I am of the opinion that these sorts of names actually sound quite classy and interesting as middle names. I have a number of friends whose children have more "sturdy" first names, but names of towns/berries/weather etc as middle names and they sound great.

Eg Oliver James Bailey Smith.

Also remember more unusual names like this will go out of fashion very quickly.

It makes me think of "Bailey" from Grey's Anatomy (a woman...). Am certain I'm not being helpful...

How about Bay - the lovely Kirstie Allsop called her son this, so it must be OK!

I think Bailey is actually a cool name for a teenager. Less so an older man?
