Bertha. Is it due a comeback? Sounds a bit like Martha and Martha is very popular now. Do you think Beth could be used for short?

Ah see I think of Hilda as the entertainingly doolally aunt in Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Hilda sounds sort of OK to me. I would parcel it in with Heidi and Inge.

Yes, Iris is nice. Quite like most of the flower names. Classic and timeless imo. My nan is Violet and like that too but names such as Martha, Stanley, Percy etc just leave me cold.

Bethan is beautiful. I think it is Welsh, yes.

Ds has a scottish gaelic name so I think a welsh name would go well. We don't have any welsh connections but we had a lovely holiday in Pembrokeshire a couple of years.

Yes Bethan is definitely growing on me. Now I just need to get pregnant!

A lot of little girls round here have floral names such as (first and middle, not two first names IYSWIM) Lily Rose, Lola Rose, India Rose, Iris, Hebe, Poppy, Daisy (but no Marigolds yet - leaving that to Adrian Mole ) which are all very girly

I love Tabitha, when I was 10 I told my mum that one day I would have a little girl called Tabitha and she would be as pretty as the character on Bewitched. I do like to shorten names though and Tabby is too feline.

I really like Bertha - though not Beth particularly.

Just googles it! Was a bomb in the second world war and is a sort of golf club made by Callaway.

Would just hope she was on the petite side and never did WWII history!

Bertie (for a girl)?
My late grandmother was also a Bertha (but always nicknamed Babka, which means 'baby') however I can't bring myself to revive it in the original.
