Noah Edward H .... are intials really so bad?

Saw someone else's post about middle names for Noah. We quite like Noah Edward, but our last name begins with H (also like other poster I think - are we the same person ).

If we did Noah Edward, initials would spell out NEH - is this such a terrible thing? Would he be teased mercilessly at school?

NOT preg by the way this is hypothetical if we ever have another (doubtful ).

Thought to do a double-barrel middle name which initials would then spell NECH, is this bad?

AM I being a bit thick?

I don't see any problem

Our dd is EER....

willowthewispa · 23/02/2009 17:26

What does NEH mean?

Lemontart · 23/02/2009 17:27

NEH is a problem because...?

glad to see I am not the only one here that misses the significance of NEH..

CottageChicken · 23/02/2009 17:35

Just thought it sounded a bit like 'Nah, neh-neh-neh-neh-neh-neh' said in a sing-songy voice that children use in the playground? So it's not that big of an issue then? YAY!

Do children at school even know their classmates' middle initials?
Definitely not a problem.

No problems at all, neither neh or nech is a word afaik, let alone a silly one.

And anyway... kids are liable to do such silly things that they would, if they really wanted to, laugh at anything no matter what, ie. NTD, NSG, DTH.... so don't worry - unless as someone has already mentioned, they spell the obvious!

tribpot · 23/02/2009 18:28

Marla's posted what I was going to: if it doesn't spell ARSE or similar you are fine! My initials are NEP, btw, so I applaud the NE concept entirely!

CottageChicken · 23/02/2009 22:31

My name spells SAC, and I was teased mercilessly so I wanted to avoid it for DS. Thank you Marla that is constructive, Gossip and others, less so.

But see, that's what I mean cottagechicken. Sorry if I appeared unconstructive, didn't mean to - but really 'SAC' is innocuous enough. I understand why you are concerned, but if you think hard enough you may find a problem with so many combinations. Hope you manage to come to a decision anyway. I think Noah & Edward are lovely names. It would be a shame not to use names you really like because of the initials.

SoupDragon · 24/02/2009 17:03

I think it's something you can only really understand if you've been teased about names/initials in the past.

NEH passes the Dragon test and I'm hardline when it comes to names and stuff.

MrsSeanBean · 24/02/2009 17:06

My initials were ASH and I was teased about that. Maybe I was just a tough little nut, but I just told them not to be so pathetic. Sorry if I am appearing hard, I do sympathise if anyone has suffered about initials.

DP would not allow EGO

Linney We used to love taking the register back to the office at school, after registration, so we could check out of class mates' middle initials.
